I was stood near em too - i made my lad turn his phone off. I suppose it's all about respect - or lack of.

| Quote: Abe Frohman "To be honest, they've got a waiting list this year at the GPW for people waiting for their turn of the minutes silence.
It seems they have a minutes silence every game this season.
I believe that the sponge carrier from the 1950's used to take his next door neighbours dog to a vet whose ex-wives half-brother died the other week.
He's pencilled in for a minute in three games time.'"
That is pretty poor form.

tbf though he is right....you should always respect it whoever it is but i rememeber one a couple of years back for a physio's wife!!!! I mean come one.....Minutes silences should be for those within the club. I appreciate it is an aweful time for the family in question etc. but minutes silences HAVE to be for people in direct contact at the club, and it seems st helens dont do this.
The one last night was legitimate, but saints seem to have so many silences these days, in fact, I cant remember the last Saints Wigan game at knowsley road without a minutes silence. They'll be including silences for the death of fans, fans dogs, and anyone dieing in the vacinity of the ground next!

| Dont post very often, but you really are one ignorant idiot. Rugby is a game for us all to enjoy and respect. If your hate of saints is so bitter you really shoud start suppourtung the round ball game and leave the rugby to genuine people. And yes I am from Wigan

Hang on Andy
We as outsiders have no idea what the connection to the club is. For all we know she could have been a supporter for the last 50 years, or could do work in the community on behalf of saints.
For me RL is a real, true community sport like no other. There has to be no real connection with the club but with the community.
There could be people in the stands who know the person personally. For me that’s all that counts.

Yeah your right mate but you have to draw the line somewhere thats all im sayin....otherwise you get the position where your having one every game. I would never disrepect a minutes silence, but some minutes silences in the past at st helens have left me thinking 'who?!' last night was not the case, but i was raising the point to back up the fella who was getting blasted on here for making a similar point. Ok he might not have put it in the right way but I think we all know what he was trying to say, and wasnt being disrespectful in that!
Ps. chisholm its got nothing to do with lack of respect...in fact the opposite. What i am saying is you cant have minutes silences for everyone otherwise it actually reduces the mark of respect the minutes silence was meant to represent in the first place!

Its a minute out of your life FFS. If the club deem a minutes silence to be neccessary then it is.

True.
The CLUB deemed it important to them, so it is.

| I think it's an appropriate way for a club to show a tribute for someone connected with the club, and it's the club who should decide.
however, don't people think it adds the the atmosphere, that big roar when the minute is over ? then kick off ... marvellous ...

Yeah true!! If the club do think its important then thats right, and im not adverse to giving a minute of my life contemplating someonelses like i said before.....the point I was trying to make which appears to be missed though is I was just saying what the fella was saying before was right to a degree....the biggest issue I have with minutes silences for every tom dick and harry is it devalues the sign of respect a minutes silence is supposed to be!
