| Quote: Jack Kerley "And that's the difference right there.
Wigan as a club, and as a central point for the community means nothing to people like you.
How on Earth can it be OUR club if it is packed with Australians, Mongolians or Chinamen?
To be honest, that's a pathetic, win at all costs attitude that has lead us to having a team that has no foothold left in the hearts and minds of local people.
To hear someone say that they don't care if local players play for the club makes me want to be sick.'"
Read again what I posted.
I would LOVE 17 Wiganers in the side IF they are good enough.
Would you like 17 Wiganers in the side if they weren't good enough.
Do you think the JJB / DW stadium would be full to the rafters with 17 Wigan lads in the side who weren't good enough.
Do you remember the likes of Ronnie Dootson, Adrian Foster, David Walsh,Terry Hollingsworth, Billy Melling, Bernard Coyle, Dave Regan, Martin Sivori, Mick Rennox etc.
Do you remember what happened.
Did the crowds flock to watch them?
When we won at Wembley in 1985 and almost 40,000 Wiganers went down to Wembley, how many Wiganers were in that team?

Correct me if I'm wrong but we went to St Helens in the Challenge cup a bit ago. This was the team:
Gleeson (wigan), Dallas, Aspinwall (wigan), Wild (wigan), Carney, Brown (wigan), Moran, Seu Seu, Newton (wigan), Sculthorpe (Oldham ), Allen (not sure), Tickle(wigan), Beswick (wigan).
Replacements: Hansen, Godwin, Guisset, Hargreaves (wigan).
Right, so theres 8 wigan lads out of 17. How did that go? I was there to watch that game, I'm not saying the score, because that actaully does make me want to be sick, rather than saying it for effect.
If you want a clue, google Saints vs Wigan, Challenge cup, June 2005
I want a SUCCESSFUL WIGAN, and yes, it would be great if every player was born and bread wigan, and wouldn't leave the side for love nor money, as well as being a clone of Farrell, Offiah or Hanley but it isn't going to happen. I would much rather sit through a win agianst Saint helens with a team full of Icelandish players than sit through that crock of agian, don't know if you went or not, but I did, and I stayed 'til the end, it was the worst rugby performance I've ever seen.

the sculthorpes are from oldam IIRC, but your point is about right. The best players for your side, not the best local players

how can you be so narrow minded to read what someone has written and just take it as a completely different statement?
WHO would you have in the first team out of the reserves at the minute?
Ainscough - getting the odd game, but HAS BEEN PROVEN that he isn't QUITE ready yet, especially against the team with a good kicking game.
Mossop - Not any better than any of our current backrowers imho, people would argue Bailey but i think Bailey has a case of we notice him more when he's not there [remembering last years v bad defence when he was missing]
How can you still be complaining that we don't have enough wigan lads in the team when we have had 9 first team regulars who are all wigan lads, with the chairman coming out and saying he STILL WANTS MORE in the future?! Name me another side [except for leeds] who get that figure?
Would it make a difference to you if it was 9 wigan lads + 8 aussies or if it was 9 wigan lads + 8 uk players?
And as someone has mentioned, the last time we tried to have a teamfull of youngsters we went to saints with a team barely good enough for NL1, but because of people like you some people supposedly "wouldnt mind" losing by the score that we did just because it was a teamful of wiganers.

| I would love to see:
Richards
Roberts Gleeson Carmont Ainscough
Phelps Smith
Fielden Riddell Coley
Hansen Bailey
Joel
Farrell Feka Leuluai Prescott
but think Noble will go with the 'safe option' (although i think the team above would do us no harm) of:
Phelps
Roberts Gleeson Carmont Richards
Smith Leuluai
Fielden Riddell Coley
Hansen Bailey
Joel
Feka Prescott McIlorum Flanagan

| He'll keep it as strong and experienced as he can imo.
I'd go-
Phelps
Ainscough(i think we can afford to give him a run out here)
Gleeson
Carmont
Richards
Smith
Leuluai
Prescott
Riddell
Coley
Hansen
Bailey
J Tomkins
subs
Feka
Fielden
Flanagan
McIlorum
that should be more then enough to beat the Celtics if we go there with the right attitude.
