| Man of Steel is the player who "makes the greatest impact on a Super League season" Recently this has turned into more of a player of year award and now is players player of the year award really. Roby has played well but made the greatest impact? I doubt it. Menzies has made an impact on the game here but probably more last season than this. Graham has made an impact making nearly 4000 metres again fair play. Morley has been outstanding again and has made impact in vital games. Richards has been a machine this season. Top Try scorer, top goal scorer, top points scorer 3rd in metres gained. Has scored some truly brilliant tries. BUT if you follow the true nature of the award then has anyone had a bigger impact on the game this season than Sam Tomkins? Established himself as one of the best 6's in the game and then some almost mercurial games at FB towards the end of the season.
My personal choice would eb Richards but if people stuck to the "mantra" of the award then Tomkins must be up there.

| Anyone else see this comment beneath that article "If Orford had stayed fit he'd have won it head and shoulders"

| Quote TheSurgeon="TheSurgeon"Good article, but lost ALL cedibility when later naming Roby at 9 in the Guardian dream team.................what a joke.'"
There are a few odd choices in there. I don't think Tommy should be anywhere near, nor should Wellens or Brown.

| Quote cadoo="cadoo"None of the above is fact. It's just your opinion. The only player who comes close is Michael Monaghan, but his defence is too shabby IMO to be in the Dream Team at nine so James Roby just edges it.'"
I'd have to disagree with the defence is too shabby part. Monaghan is one of my favourite tacklers in the game, absolute textbook everytime.

| Quote TheSurgeon="TheSurgeon"The dream team No.9 is about being the best No.9 all season, a fact that Roby has not been. He may well have been a consistent performer for stains, but not the best in the league.'"
Sam's got no chance then if they are looking at him for 2 positions. How can he have been the best in his position all season.

Well as a Warrington fan, you are no doubt in a better position to comment on that for me. However, from the snippets I've seen he has been sloppy in defence.

I can only imagine of the outcry in Smellins if Sam is named FB and McGuire at 6, leading to Wellens being ommitted.....

Don't mind Wello being left out. All good things must come to and end. The outcry would be having McGuire at six.

Well if you believe Eddie Hemmings McGuire's in the form of his life and a dead cert for the Four Nations. Personally I think it would be a bit daft to put Sam at FB in the dream team considering he's only played about 7 games there. This is the RFL we're talking about though. They specialise in "a bit daft"

| Man of Steel regained it’s credibility after the James Roby debacle when the vote was taken away from the media and given to the players. Sean O'Loughlin say’s on his video interview following the Hull KR game that the players have already voted.

| Quote LovesToSpooge="LovesToSpooge"I think if Pat can break Farrel's record on Friday, and the club and media in general make a big enough song and dance about it. It'll push Richards to the forefront of everyone's minds before the crucial vote next week.

I think the vote has been done.
