I have become used to losing to saints and seeing them win things but wire is a different matter. It's not like they are going to match the success we have had in the super league era but for them to have a better season than us is painful to take.

Losing to wire in the semi was sad but huddersfield beating the scousers made up for it so it wasnt a bad weekend.

As Pemps said, I think most Wigan fans were over it by Saturday night. That's the cup for you - there can be only two in the final, and nearly everyone else has to get knocked out by someone. It's not as if there's anyone in the entire league who isn't used to being knocked out of the CC.

It matters less about who did it, then the manner of it. Warrington deserved their win, but Wigan can do a lot better than that - something we could say about the last two semi-finals they've appeared in. This 'bottling the big games' factor is the biggest sore point re. Saturday, but it doesn't only refer to Saturday.

I predict the Wire fans to attempt a big Wembley wind-up on Friday, but I also predict that it will go quiet very quickly if Wigan play as well as they can.

but to answer your question, to sell to non RL fans the profile of the game needs to be higher in the media for that to happen, i personally think the cup final attracts core fans not many others.
the RL do very little in comparison to true fans and the word of mouth they use to promote the game to outsiders.
i personally work in a non rugby league hotbed but invite people to come to matches to check it out, some stay and become fans (one is now a wigan fan! season ticket holder with his son).

Not at all. It would have annoyed me more if it was St.Helens in the final. As soon as they lost on Sunday, the bad feeling about us not reaching the final almost went away.

Warrington and Hull are the only 2 games as a Saints fan where I feel that 'edge' where there could be trouble. Warrington traditionally wasnt a good place to go and neither was Hull and although they have both got better with new stadiums there is still a large problem element with them I feel. Wigan and Saints are massive rivals but I never feel uncomfortable or on edge at derby games.
