| Quote: Horatio Yed "If Matt King goes to Wigan, i think he'd replace Pat on the wing who would be shifted to fullback and Sam would go back in the halves'"
Is there anything really in this, or is it all just hearsay about King?

Yes i was condescending... You make a statement about Saints, then give an exception. Just looked a little silly.

| i grew up watching connolly for wigan, not really knowing about his dark dark past,
but i also grew up hating scully, wouldnt want him near a wigan team, just for the pure fact he is mr st helens,
the coupled with i really dont think he should be given the chance after being a buisness manager at saints and not really doing much if any proper coaching,
having wayne as the main man next year is a big enough gamble for me, y make it even harder by having a guy who has never been a assistant, or coach at the lower level for very long ,

The problem is finding a quality assistant. We couldn't get an Aussie because of work permit problems. We won't be able to get an SL team coach to come and be an assistant, effectively dropping down. And there's no one at the club to promote to that position. I'm happy to just run with whatever IL decides and get on with it.
What I have been told is Scully has been approached by Wigan's prospective coach rather than Scully approaching Wigan or IL approaching Scully. This in itself is good as the coach is picking who he works with rather than being told who he'll be working with. Scully is/was a leader and a bloody good one at that. He's ranked up there with Farrell and no one would complain if [ihe[/i came back. I know he's now got coaching experience but from what I've heard he was taking training sessions whilst he was a player at Wigan anyway. Who's to say Scully wasn't doing that?
I'm actually quite excited to see what a relatively young (experience wise) coaching partnership could achieve

Agree 100% with this and also the likely circumstances to which he is being appointed, only bit I find offensive is the bit in bold. Great player but no Faz...............

What I meant was, he's St Helens' Farrell.

| Quote: Father Ted "Surely if Matt King comes to Wigan he will get the 3 shirt with Josh as his wingman. George and Pat to continue at 4 and 5.
That would allow Joel to return to the second row and be our right sided 2nd rower. '"
I'd be very happy with that. All we need is Matt King to sign and George Carmont to stay for another year! Although I would consider swapping King and Charnley around. Still with Sam, King, Charnley, Carmont and Richards that would be a top backline with the resources available to us.
Quote: Father Ted "Should Coley retire then our props would be Fielden, Lima, Prescott, Mossop plus Crosby Davies and Spencer. Maybe also O'Carroll.
The back row would consist of Joel, HH, Hock, Lockers, Faz, Tuson & Hughes.
That looks like a very good pack after allowing for Coley and Hoffman's departure.'"
I'd possibly like to recruit another prop, but we may have to spend our resources elsewhere. Halfback and hooker will depend on where Wane/Scully see Thomas Leuluai better off at. IMO it would be at hooker. Two scenariosFirst option
Brett Finch
Thomas Leuluai
Mike McIlorum
Joe Mellor
Second option
Brett Finch
Joe Mellor
Thomas Leuluai
Mike McIlorum
Unless of course we can recruit a halfback or a hooker.

Hooker and centre have and would still be my priorities for 2012.

| Scully's passing game was far superior to Farrell in my opinion. But that's where it stops.
When it came to kicking, defence, workrate, leadership, discipline - Farrell all the way.

| I think the Sculthorpe move is a good one. Ok he is not a current assistant coach but no one is until they start somewhere.
As for being Mr St. Helens, he is from Oldham, played for Warrington, has lived in Wigan for many years and was transferred to Saints for a record transfer fee.
Hold on that can't be right because Wigan signed all the top players so no one else could have them.

Option 2 for me. I like the contrast between Finch and Mellor at HB, together they provide everything you want out of any any good HB combination. Plus it allows Tommy to stay at 9, his best position.
