Fair enough but they'd still make me worry. Dobson seems to play well against us and Carney you know has the quality to win a game when his heads in it.
Fingers crossed BMM is available. He's been great to watch this year and the game deserves the best players to be available.

Agree with all of this. It's not often we get 2 sides with their best players available going at it hammer and tongue. Hopefully both sides will have a strong squad available and give us a great game of rugby league.

| Quote ="Bigredwarrior"Lui is a key player for Salford and would be a big miss if he's out, as would BMM. The Wigan team that was beaten by Salford at the DW stadium earlier in the season was as folows:
21. Lewis Tierney, 36. Tom Davies, 32. Liam Forsyth, 5. Joe Burgess, 35. Liam Marshall, 39. Josh Woods, 16. Sam Powell, 8. Frank-Paul Nuuausala, 33. Josh Ganson, 19. Ryan Sutton, 20. Willie Isa, 12. Liam Farrell, 11. Joel Tomkins
Interchange: 17. Taulima Tautai, 23. Nick Gregson, 24. Joe Bretherton, 26. Romain Navarrete
To be fair the lads gave a decent account t of themselves against Salford when they were in good form. However, next week's Wigan side won't look anything like that and it'll be interesting to see how Salford go against a far stronger Wigan. I'm not saying it'll be easy but I do fancy Wigan.'"
After how the Salford players celebrated at the DW I hope we put them to the sword and embarrass them this weekend.
Whether we've got the form to do that is another matter.

If they're both fit I'd go-
Tomkins
Davies Gelling Gildart Burgess
Williams Leuluai
Sutton McIlorum Tomkins
Bateman Farrell Lockers
Clubb Tautai Isa Powell
Nuuausala much improved last night and it'd be a close call between him and Tautai to miss out but I'd just edge for TT. He himself needs to get better though. He's been nowhere near his best these last couple of months.'"
Interesting! Another player told me that Faz could have played on Friday.

That sounds more promising then. Hopefully Farrell is just keeping people guessing. There's no player in our squad that I'd rather have on the team sheet in a big game then Farrell.

| This has little to no credibility as it literally comes from the 'bloke down the pub' but apparently Wigan have sold just 2,500 tickets for the semi-final. Such apathy wouldnt surprise me but does anyone have any info on sales (Wigan and overall) from a more reliable source?

Wigan sold their initial allocation and asked for more from the RFL. Not sure how many the initial allocation was though?

I've not heard anything but it seems off. I don't know what the initial allocation was but I'd have thought it was more then 2,500 and we've since got more. We were allocated half the main stand, all the seating behind the posts and the full touchline terrace and whilst we didn't get all the terracing tickets in one go we have since been given 500 extra.
Salford seemed to have stopped crowing that they're outselling us as well and they've sold about 5,000 I believe.

| We are a strange bunch to be fair. We can take 2,000+ to the other side of the world, another couple of thousand to France yet at Leigh on a Thursday night we probably had half that amount there!
I can't see how it can be as low as 2,500 going off initial allocation but it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Sadly I believe this is true, hoping there is a late surge.
Our fans' approach to certain games is bizarre.

Semi final games seem to be the main ones over the years. Seems that our fans more than most take a 'wait and see if we get to the final' approach.

| Sadly, Wiganers have a long standing reputation of not turning up to sporting events when they have to put their hands in their pockets. Its not just a rugby thing as the football crowds for cup ties drop by over 50%.
Disposable income in Wigan is not as plentiful as some of the other northern towns/cities.

| you have to be realistic and factor in a potential Wembley trip, a potential GF trip (very potentially!!) and then we have the WC and now even the SL game in Oz early next year.
we aren't all on megabucks, I think its unfair to suggest we don't appreciate the position we are in, but we can't support them everywhere all the time.
I still maintain that home cup ties should be included free of charge on season tickets. ok you may end up "unlucky" and get two home ties but surely the club will still make more on the days than they do trying to flog these tickets. this then gives fans more money to play with when it comes to fixtures like this.

Plus it looks like autumn has arrived early too.
All of which is bo11ox when you consider the Whinos/Ull fixture is reported to be a sell out.

It's a semi final and even with all points considered, we shouldn't have an issue selling a good 7,000 or 8,000 tickets.
In fairness there's no confirmation either way in sales. We've had an extra allocation of standing tickets and I can't for the life of me think we were only given 2,500 tickets in our first allocation when we had two thirds of the stadium ear marked for us.
I suppose we'll see on the day but I've not seen any desperate pleas from players and staff for us to support the team like we had before Doncaster last year.
