Quote Baked Bean Boogie="Baked Bean Boogie"have noticed a lot of players go just for the the ball it's becoming a joke. they made a few breaks last night due to one or two of ours doing it, bring in a new rule against reefing the ball out, make it illegal to do so even if it's one on one, fair enough if it's a ball steal let it be allowed but just reefing to try and get the knock on should be banned, i want to see more tackling than grabbing, less breaks would be made if players where actually trying to tackle rather than reefing, it would promote more skill in the game both in attack and defence'"
To be fair, there are times when the ball handler quite conveniently (and cleverly) 'loses' the ball in the tackle in order to gain a penalty.....Finch definitely did so last night in a tackle with Blythe, and I've seen Jamie Peacock do similar this season.
I don't like to defend refs too much, but it can occasionally be difficult to tell the difference between a steal or a simple case of a weak carry on behalf of the attacker.
