In a 14 team league, any lower than 5th means that someone who has had either a losing season or has negative points difference, or both gets a shot at the title. Its plain wrong.
My format:
League Leaders - Automatic bye to Grand Final.
Wk 1: 2nd v 5th. 3rd v 4th.
Wk 2: Winners play for a place in final. Highest placed club at home.
Ok, it doesnt have as many fixtures, nor does it give the likes of Castleford or Wakefield a place in the knockout with a win 11/lose 16 record, but what it does do is reward the league leaders and gives 2nd & 3rd a home game for a place in the final eliminator.
