Look at he league position we are in. We are poor yet are 5th and 6 points off 3rd place occupied by that scintillating side, Huddersfield. We are also in a cup semi final.
So IMO it's people who [idon't [/ithink 2 or 3 big names won't turn us into title contenders next season are the deluded ones. The standard of competition isn't that good.
What we can be sure of is if we don't make moves to improve the side in certain key positions we definitely won't be contenders yet again.

We are already at that stage now. Most of the young players people talk about are either already 20 or soon will be. We need IL to deliver the signings promised for 2010 and then some more depending on how things go with the younger players in 2011.

4486_1428087820.png Newsnight 13th May 2010: "With the role of Deputy Prime Minister a non-job. Has Nick Clegg gone from King Maker to tea maker????"
I kept the faith and I kept voting
Not for the iron fist but for the helping hand
For theirs is a land with a wall around it
And mine is a faith in my fellow man
Theirs is a land of hope and glory
Mine is the green field and the factory floor
Theirs are the skies all dark with bombers
And mine is the peace we knew

Dead right Dave. A couple of signings in the right areas of the right quality (namely a top draw prop and top draw halfback) would see us right in the mix.
Without those signings, I dont see how we can be expected to kick on to a point were we are right up there.
In regards a coach, I also dont see the point in replacing Noble if we are going to run with the same team, to me it seems like it would be a pointless switch, the less signings seem possible the more I think Noble will be asked to stay on next year.

IL does seem to be drfiting that way and that will have more of an effect on season tickets sales etc than any coach or player.

Look at stains top easily this year with what is an increasingly weakening squad...next uear they'll be even weaker....no Gilmour no long, KFC retired or fatter and slower and more injury prone which could be worse, and then youve got an ageing wellens who wasnt any good in the first place!....if we cant match them next season with a couple of star signings then we never will.
The Inland Revenue loophole is meaning that even teams like leeds and stains now cant circumvent the cap any more which means that we'll all be playing at the same pi55 poor diluted level next year. Id go as far to say a new coach with new ideas and even one star player would be enough to win us the league next season!

Comments like that make Wigan fans look stupid.
As for Saints, yeah, we would all love to see them collaspe when Long goes to Hull & KFC retires, and sure they wont be as good as they are now/were, but they have planned for this for the last few years and are in much better shape to deal with it than we were when we lost Faz, Rads, Newton etc etc. They might not win anything for a year or two, but they wont bottom out like we did.

Absolutely spot on, and this why us the fans are crying our for the two or three players in positions we are struggling in who can turn this club around, yet for some reason Lenegan can't see it.

Why exactly?!?! If we had a different coach this season we probably wouldnt have thrown away points at celtic, catalan, and hull, and at home to wakey, cas and huddersfield, which were all evidently winnable and but for a bit of composure and decent tactics we would have won.....Hence if that was the case we would have now been joint top with stains on 32 points. All this doom and gloom but ive said all along we arent too far away.
A new coach with ideas and tactics, a decent conditioner, and even if it were only one star player, could easily see us challenging at the top and even winning super league next season.
Additionally, I can see stains being only a top 4-6 team for the next few years after this one when the old guard goes and they have to start bringing the youngsters few....take stains out the equation and you've only got leeds to worry about, who themselves are lucky to be where they are this season, and have blown hot and cold and have also looked decidedly weaker this season.
Top 2 would easily be acheivable with one player and a bit of tactics IMO

I think leneghan can, and will change it. The problem we have imo is one noble, which I think he has now sorted, and two having three players we dont really need (amos fielden and piggy) who are on long contracts and taking up a wedge of salary cap. Unfortunately theres not much we can do about the later problem which leaves his hands tied a bit, but even with that being the case, the money freed from Hock and Smith should leave us enough in the kitty for a star HB or star prop. If only we could shift one or two of the other dispensable incumbents then we may be able to get a star in both positions which, added to the bedrock of what is the foundations of a very good squad, could easily turn us into top 2 challengers and champions at some stage in the next couple of seasons.

I sure Noble contributes heavily to are poor overseas signings but I wouldn't say Lenegan doesn't have any blame on his shoulders. After all he is the chairman and owner and I would have though that he is the one who makes the final decisions, it is his money.
