Gildart looked like he was getting back to something like the player we know he is after a poor start.
Massive negative Hastings…I’ve no idea what happens to this club if he isn’t replaced.'"
Even with a supreme talent like Hastings we’re dire and I throw that at Lam. I’m not worried about Hastings going as long as we get a proper coach in and not this fraud we have now. A decent coach would get 50% more out of Hastings himself and even though he’ll be gone, I expect somebody with half an idea can get an extra 50% plus out of every player and that’ll more than make up for the shortfall.
He’s an absolute big mouthed clown Lam. His interview in the week focussed more on Saints, with him saying we’d put in a great performance tonight and move on. I keep hearing players saying how well we’ve played in games. He had conditioned them to accept this dross.

That for me is a real concern.
The junior teams certainly don’t seem to be performing at the levels they have traditionally.
There seems to be a real malaise/apathy throughout every level of the club.
It’s very concerning.

| Powell going off was a blow to the players and they took time to cope with him missing and Joe Shorrocks at 9. Powell hasn't looked fit for some time but Lam sometimes puts a reserve 9 but not tonight. Smith plays both Parcell and Litten when he can. They changed the game along with our mistakes.
Play is always going through Hastings and is easy for opposition teams.
We need senior props and forwards yet he leaves Clark out no matter how well he plays.
Lam has run his course. He needs replacing and we need to prepare for next season. We are clearly not good enough to win anything yet again and never will be with Lam in charge.
HKR have beaten us 3 times on the run and Smith has out coached Lam each time with a squad nowhere near as good as Lam's. The two defeats this year HKR had not had their half backs playing yet the outplayed us.
If we want improvement then changes have to take place.
Let's hope those changes happen soon.

Thats the big concern even with Hastings wigan are awful time and again until a below par team arrives and they somehow manage a win...Lam is utterly clueless its time now for the silent one in the chairman's chair to open his gob and fire him.

| For all the hype of this retro game against Leeds, the only retro link will be the lowest crowd since we were at Central Park.

Sad to say this is very likely to be the first year in 50 that I don't attend a game. A 4 hour round trip used to be looked forward to, now, well, I simply can't justify it. Hull is only an hour away or so, but I didn't even contemplate going, the spark has simply gone. Only so long you can keep seeing the same mistakes before enough is enough. The game needs a change, and it needs it soon! Credit to the Hull KR management for what looked like a great pre match atmosphere.

| Can not believe what I saw tonight would sooner watch Ashton Bears on a Saturday afternoon. As lam no brains soon as Powell went off you would have put Field in the halves and Hastings at hooker were he as played before Sharrock's can not pass save is life.

Agreed Hastings should have gone to 9.
Think it’s harsh on Shorrocks saying he can’t pass, his link game at 13 is fairly strong he isn’t a 9 though and it showed tonight.

Not sure we looked and different in attack, Powell or no Powell. Let’s be honest, anyone in the team could do what Powell is being coached to do this season (defence apart).

But poor defence was the reason we lost tonight. We made errors and didn't/couldn't defend them. Their 1st try was awful defensively. Than at 16 -14 we give a penalty on the 4th tackle and from that let them in again with terrible defence.
Sort the defence out and we have a chance.

But we can’t bank on defence when we’re seemingly incapable of scoring more than 3 tries a game. D is poor yes, but I’d argue our attack is worse. The defence automatically improves with an improvement in enthusiasm, intensity, conditioning, and desire - all of which IMO can only be achieved with a change in head coach & club culture generally.

For sure. I said upthread that Shorrocks looks due for a rest probably more than most, and although he has filled in briefly at dummy-half before, to ask him to play there for virtually a full game seems all wrong, all the more so when other choices were available.

We don’t stand a chance when 1 player is the sole focus of all our attack which is exactly the reason we are not scoring tries.
If I’m a defender against Wigan I look where Hastings is…..that’s it, job done. Easy work.

You are right but good teams earn the right to have games where they switch off defensively and they can still win because they’ll just out score the opposition. We can only win games by keeling teams under 20 points and more often that not, we need to keep them under 12-16 points. The attack is just diabolical. I said a few weeks ago I’d checked the average points per game of the team I’d consider to be Superleagues worst ever in Workington and they scored at the same average we were this season. Since then we’ve put just over 20 on Wakey, 18 on Salford, 50 on Leigh and 14 on HKR, so the average may have gone up by a few points (it was around 14 per game) but it’s just woeful.
Maybe when the really big games come we can be squeaky clean in defence and discipline and we can scrape the wins needed to get to another final but I just can’t see it. We just don’t have the tactical awareness to get us through games of that nature.

We won’t make the playoffs IMO
I’d be surprised if we win again this season
Lam is the the worst coach since Coslett. People under 50 please google.
