Quote: Bill_Barlow "We have won 3 games on the bounce against a poor Celtic and then yes il give Noble credit were its due Wakey away and Saints are good and excellent results but his biggest test is now, back it up vs,

Wakey away,
Hull KR home
Wire away
Salford home
Celtic away
Hull KR away
Quins home
Catalan home

Lets win in the cup and then at 6 from 7 of the next games.'"

And a Cup win plus 5 wins from the next 7 would be an excellent return.

That would leave us needing to win only 3 of the next 7 and 1 more cup game to show an improvement on previous season which should just about convince DaveO not to take out a "Hit" on Noble should IL give him a new contract!

Oh, and as long as we have a better points difference and average crowd and sell more merchandise and the Official website takes more hits and Season tickets come down in price and we resign Mickey Higham!

All of the above should just about do it for Him!

Quote: XBrettKennyX "But again I put the same question to you DG.

The league competition is all about jockying for position until September. There is then a cup competition to decide the season.

Those are the rules and any coach worth his salt will play to them, and more importantly optimise his team to perform within them.

The cup is a different beast admitedly, but again it's a knockout competition and I am not sure we can draw any conclusions on 2 years worth of that.

The League is irrelevant (or if you prefer very very very unimportant).

Btw I have no desire for this to turn into a slanging match. I am genuinely interested in being told why I am wrong here, as I cannot see that I am.'"

Brett have you noticed that you sit outside the top 8 having played 1 or 2 more games than the rest of the comp and have lost more games than you have won???Its no good just jockying for position if you come 6,7,or 8th becaue you havent got a realistic chance of winning the grand final. If that is moving forward and improving ,,well good for you!!

Quote: FearTheVee "Wow, talk about a turnaround in attitudes!

Just goes to show how important performing in the derby is. You're still not in a play-ff place, despite having played 1 more game than all above you (2 more than Quins) but suddenly Noble is doing a good job.
No, the same people who think Noble was alright before think he is alright Now!

The ones who hated him before still hate him!

But that one stop you spouting your usual Wigan fans do a turnaround B011ox will it!

PS

Your point is what???

We are 4 ponts closer to you than we were 2 x weeks ago and Longy/Wellens/KFC/Gidley are 2 weeks nearer to pension day!

And losing 2 x grand finals in 2007/2008 is worse than winning it in 2006!

Doing it from Top Spot didn't exactly Help you out either did it!

Yet your still trying to do it with the same clapped out Geriatrics! icon_wink.gif

The difference is that the previous time we played, you were lucky to win. This time you were lucky not to lose 38-0.

You really came on here to remind us that we're crap. But if I were you, I'd get used to people reminding you that you're crap. On your last few performances, it won't be too far off that being a regular event.

Yikes, those stats seem to show when using the league points as a basis that Wigan have got worse from 2000 year on year to mid-2006. They have only started improving in 2007, looking at the 2006 season the league points started to get better err, well, when Noble got the job.

League placing also bears this out, 2006 the lowest point and subsiquent years better than this.

However statistically speaking Wigan are not as good now as they were during the 90's.... Oh, and since Phil Clarke started doing it pundit job on sky in 1999 Wigan have got worse.

Any more silly stats? icon_smile.gif

The key to a new contract is consistancy without doubt.

We've played well in fits and starts for all the time Noble has been incharge but we've not had a good consistant run since the back end of his first season and that needs to change imo.

The run of fixtures coming up gives us a good opportunity to find some consistant form. I'm not saying we have to win them all but i'd like to see us take the majority of them and just look like we want to play for them all and not be half hearted.

I have one thing to say to DaveO and Jonh. Well 3 things actually.

Do you still believe Noble can only coach 5 drives and a kick? Do you still believe Noble cannot coach entertaining rugby? Do you still believe he has no idea how to coach attacking rugby?

They were the crux of your past arguments re.Noble. Jonh sat for hours typing post after post about how Noble was a very limited coach who could not coach anything but a simple 5 drives and a kick. All that technical jargon you typed and paragraphs of drivel about how you knew better was a waste of your life that you will never get back.

Geez calm down fella! icon_lol.gif

Seriously though, my point was just that Noble has done wonders for his prospects of being long term Wigan coach with that performance, but it needs to be backed up oin the weeks to come or it will soon be forgotten as an isolated good performance surrounded by a sea of poor ones (which has been the story of his tenure to date).

Good to have the derby alive and kicking in 2009 though, can't wait for the next one icon_biggrin.gif
