| 3 of us not likely to renew because of the Thursday / Monday issue just not worth the season ticket given the risk of not being able to attend. Will make the effort for this year but not going to take days off work next year. Shame but RL needs to expand the fan base not put obstacles in the way.

| So those of us who cannot make midweek have now missed Wire away, Saints away and Leeds at home. In a league of mediocre e I've missed 3 of the 6 regular season games that mean anything. It's a disgrace BUT I watch on Sky because I have no other choice so Sky win. Catch 22 until the clowns at Red Hall stand up and realise that our sport is actually worth something to Sky.

Sadly could not agree more.
SKY are winning again so it won't change. Catch 22; we need SKY to invest the money into our game, they will do so as long as they reep the rewards, they reep by getting people out of the stadia and watching on the TV.
SKY don't care if theres 25 of 25,000 in the stadium so as people subscribe each month.
Saints away, Wire away and now Leeds at home are taken away from us. Slowly turning into an armchair fan and I hate it!!
I know I sound like a stuck record but I fear the RFL is selling the souls of our game in a desperate attempt to save it.
Huddersfield top of the league with an average crowd of 5K - how can the lower teams make it if the top teams can't

They'll love that. The less people in the ground the more watching and paying for sky.

| I can see why people are not happy, but why cancel/ not renew season tickets? If you want to do something that will take notice cancel Sky and state that you can not abide them messing the rugby around or words that effect. I already have but said it was because of their coverage which was diabolical and as it was the only reason I got it and am not watching it seems a bit stupid.
If enough people do it somewhere along the line they will be forced to listen.

| Renewing season tickets is not financially viable for us. Cold hard cash states that I need to make 7 home games to make it worthwhile. I won't go to Monday/Thursday games as the kids are still at primary school and getting home a 11 is too late for them, I miss a couple of games due to shifts and one or two due to holidays.
I will pick and choose the games I attend, pay as I go, subscribe to wigan Tv and buy premier sports.
Sky may not care but the club board will when cash flow falls off.
Wigan get about £600 from me, not including playoffs and cup and 4 away games a year, that money will be lost.
More inportantly they have my replacement/s, if I don't take him he will drift away and the other one won't get into it.

| Does anyone know what's on Friday night that they are shifting our games for? If it's boxing, no major fight will ever start before 10.30 meaning a 7.45 kick off is fine. From what I've seen over recent weeks Friday night seems to be "Premier League Years" where United didn't cruise it, a bit of volleyball and repeats of the cricket. Oh and darts, but that is a niche audience if ever there was one.
Super League is the second most watched league (tv-wise) in the UK, I'd understand having games on Thursday if they were addition to Friday, Saturday and Sunday fixtures but it's just being dropped.
And following the theme of this message board, I doubt I'll renew, taking into account the offers (such as the Hudds game) they put on and the huge availablity of tickets there really isn't any point in signing yourself up to Thursday games that a) you'll struggle to make and b) will be on Sky.

| Still haven't decided what we'll be doing with our two renewals. For me this messing around with the fixtures just adds to frustrations about the poor standard of the competition and its structure (playoffs).
Would people be more inclined to renew if the fixtures were mutually agreed and set in stone at the start of the season?
As regards SKY they'd only take notice if substantial numbers of customers tried to cancel their sports subscription at the same time and for the same reason (Even if that cancellation was temporary and outside of the rugby season). Can't really see this happening without proper organisation across fans groups,

Agree fully. I'll probably renew the kids tickets as they still cost in, but will probably ditch mine. I've accepted that I'm bound to miss a match due to holidays in August - though you take a punt with this as the fixtures aren't out till Feb & we've generally booked well before then, but this whole Monday/Thursday thing is beyond a joke. It would be bad enough if we lived in Wigan, but as we travel then it's not viable at all. Add to the matches mentioned above, we'd have gone to the CC QF if that hadn't been moved too.
The way it is, we seem to go to a ton of matches before June, and then with the pitch re-laying & the constant changing of fixtures, seem to go about once a month to home matches, if we're lucky.
But let's be honest, Sky don't care, and if the club do care, they can do little about it anyway. Sad, really.

Fair play for coming to most games if you live that far away. Don't think I'd have a season ticket if I lived in Yorkshire

| Sky don't care I had a ST at Old Trafford for over 20 years let it go 7 years ago due to fixture changes for the benefit of TV, in my final year there were only 3 home games with a 3 pm Saturday Kick Off.
We are seeing something very similar with this Monday Thursday garbage which will result in another ST not being renewed as it won't make financial sense for me due to work commitments.
It's sad but the brain trust at Red Hall will do nothing to rock the sky boat

It is not only RL fans who should be involved in any protest against Sky, football fans should be involved as well, when you see the amount of money going into the Premier League every year ( I think it is app £35 Million per CLUB this year) and basic season tickets touching a £1000.00 per season at clubs at Arsenal and Chelsea means that any protest by RL fans alone would be laughed at.

Football fans do protest. Its called AMF - Against Modern Football. The thing is, they protest inside the ground when they've already paid for their tickets. Stupid, i know. If football fans dont attend games they'll lower the pricing but they pay bucket loads for tickets so the clubs aren't bothered as long as they're getting the money.
The thing is with our sport is its not a popular sport. RFL and clubs are trying to attract new fans with quite high prices. Its not going to work

When you see the astronomical wages paid to soccer players and the parasitic agents acting as blood suckers nothing will change with Sky until you form a united front.
I know this seems far fetched but if soccer fans threatened to withdraw their subscriptions (call Skys bluff) and at the same time if soccer fans did not send the season ticket renewal forms back by the required date, ( the offers that say that you get app 5% off the full price), A protest like this would make them think.
If this was to happen Sky, the Clubs, over paid players and parasitic agents would Squeal.
It would more that likely never happen but if someone far more intelligent than me could put these type of suggestions on the net it could snowball.

I have just noticed that my post was split, I must have hit the submit button half way through my post instead of preview.
But like I have said the only thing that scares the people I have mentioned is that they not like anything that effects their bloated lifestyle.

| Fully sympathise with you on this but Sky know they can get away with anything now because without them we're done for.
I suspect your game is Thursday to accommodate them showing a footy game, as that is the weekend the Football League starts so footy will take priority.

Why would we be done for without them? If it's their second most watched league, surely other channels would also be interested? BBC2 have sod all on a Friday night*, how good would it be if they stuck the rugby on? That could really put us on the map!
*tonight it's live athletics (a one off as the London Aniversary games are on), Gardeners World, Springwatch Guide to Butterflies and Moths and a repeat of an episode of the Trip, in which Steve Coogan reviews restaraunts. I know we're biased but surely a game of rugby league is better than that! Especially when you take out the athletics which aren't normally on

| We aren't helpless.
It's us that spend on beer, pies, club shirts and turn up on a wet cold Friday against London when nobody in the telly cares.
It's our kids that walk down the street wearing club shirts and advertising the sponsors.
But most importantly it's us that shout cheer and give the game an atmosphere, whithout us it rugby in an vacuum.
