Can't see Shaun Wane getting sacked as relegation doesn't exist for Wigan.
IL won't pay compensation to a sacked coach and then pay a salary to a new appointment. Just not his way of doing things.
Just my view but I thought IL extending Noble's contract was to buy him time whilst looking for the man he wanted. Which in the end is what happened.

Besides I think the team is good enough to compete at the top level.
SW has assembled a massive pack which has power, skill and pace.
His half backs are both new however Green has pace and skill whilst Smith can bring a decent kicking game which is something we have lacked for years.
Four of the five backs are as last year with the 4 shirt going to Hughes with Thornley getting a run at centre too. We've also quality back up in most positions as well.

Favourites for the sack have to be Millward, Cas's opening fixtures are a nightmare. I can only see them winning one out of the first six.
Betts will struggle and Anderson has taken over a losing team.

What's that got to do with anything? You think he will stand as the champion of morals if your team under performs and your fickle fans are calling for his head - get real. Wane will go if your squad, as feared on here, doesn't perform this year or starts where you left off last year when he'd clearly lost the plot and showed all the signs of being out of his depth. Simmons was the same and was a silly appointment from the start by Saints.

PS: Who took the call not to extend Noble's contract - can't remember if it was IL or Diamond Dave?

Lenagan extended Noble's contract at the end of 2008, then didn't extend at the end of 2009 when he had Maguire lined up.

It's way too early to be thinking of sacking management. This is just people making up pseudo-news to justify their existence on whichever daily-comic they're employed by.

But if you're really serious: Wane isn't on his own when it comes to bending the squad into shape - how about throwing some brown stuff at the supporting characters too: Harris has always been a suspect signing in my book.

IMO part of the reason for that is IL is wary of the reputation Wigan had as a club that was very fickle when it came to this and doesn't want it to have the same reputation under his stewardship.

The other reason he won't sack him IMO is he has given Wane a two year deal and so will give him that time to show whether he is up to the job or not. A deal is a deal so to speak. So the question is, I reckon, will Wane get a new deal at the end of 2013, not will he be sacked during the season?

How IL will decide that I don't know. Getting to semi-finals didn't get Noble another contract in 2009 but it could be argued as we have a poorer side on paper it would be unfair to expect better from Wane next year than this. I suspect though that Wane won't be able to count on that to come to his rescue if things go badly wrong.

Not surprised by this. We have lost some top class players and replaced them with weaker signings or filling their gaps with young players. Our season is unlikely to be as strong as last season and therefore pressure will be on after poor recruitment with so much free cap space. Lets hope the team can perform ok

IL won't sack Wane, but if we have a poor season I could see him possibly stepping down back to Assistant Coach. I think he was made for that role personally. I don't think we'll be far off the trophies again though.

I would give Wane another year. Hopefully he WILL learn from last year, put less emphasis on the rounds and peak next September.

If he fails to grasp this simple point he needs to be shown the door.

Does Wane have to win the Superleague or Challenge Cup next season to win your seal of approval or would getting to one of the finals do?

Trouble with our fans is that if we "did a Leeds" and finished lower down in the regular season yet got to both finals and won one of them, they'd still all be unhappy cos we finished so low down the table. Can't win really!

Not for one minute do I think Wane will not be gunning for top spot.

Whilst I think he may try different ways to spell senior players in lesser games and try new methods in training to give the team a greater chance of peaking at the business end of the season no way can I see him deliberately forfeiting top spot (if the chance is there). It's not in his nature i'm afraid.

A schoolboy could work out that it is the playoffs that are vital under the current structure. If Wane cannot then he needs to be removed.

There is no denying his passion and he is a very likeable guy, but he really must learn from his first season in charge. There is absolutely no point in thrashing teams in Feb, only to falter in Sept.

You can top the league and then go on to win a Grand Final you know.

I appreciate his dedication to Wigan but find him easily dislikeable. I am not sure there are many outside Wigan who do.

Didn't Noble get criticised by some Wigan fans for not getting the "Week in Week out performances" right and instead focussing too much on "Being Right come Play off time"?

Wane came within a couple of points of taking you to OT. Had you got there I'm pretty sure you too would have beaten Wire. For all the flak he's copping about taking the regular rounds too seriously you missed out by a tiny margin. And while you've changed some players I reckon some pretty minor changes to the approaches of your coaching staff and conditioners will see you being as big a threat as anyone next season.
