Anyone know what time Wakey's "we beat Wigan" trophy parade is today?
Apart from the small club scenes, the saddest part of last night is this - the result doesn't matter one bit.
These results and performances happen every year for us. Kind of makes a mockery of following them home and away during June/July tho. 8 months and only really 4, maybe 5 games, mean something?
These results do matter, maybe not in the final outcome of who wins the title, but to the Wigan fans who came over the M62 on a Friday night expecting to see a full strength Wigan team demolish an injury hit Trinity but were 'rewarded' with a gutless and lazy effort from their team. They matter to the Trinity fans whose vocal support seemed to intimidate some of the Wigan players. They matter to the sport, which needs to provide entertainment to both fans and to a wider audience in order to encourage new fans to attend games. They matter to the England manager, who must be wondering if some of his 'shoe-ins' have the heart or strength of character to match up to the Aussies. Finally, I suspect it matters to you despite the patronising saltiness of your post. Speaking to Wigan fans after the game last night they were quick to praise Trinity, but equally quick to bemoan the half assed efforts of their team of 'stars'.

The fact is that - this happens every year to Wigan. Do you think, after watching us lift the GF trophy last year - anyone mentioned Hull away? Have you moment. It's probably the highlight of your season. That says more about your club and your fans, than it does about anything else. Those 'stars' will be remembered for a long, long time after they retire. Don't think we'll be saying the same about anyone at Wakey.

| Just crack on and enjoy your overweening sense of entitlement and arrogance while understanding that most Wigan fans aren't as childish or puerile as you seem to be.

| Entitlement, or expectations? Small clubs wouldn't understand.

God forbid someone sticks up for the club, or players? Why don't we turn this into the other site I.e. none of them are good enough, drop them all etc. The fact a Wakey fan is sarcastically saying 'stars', to a team that won everything last year is laughable. Sad that, apparently, some Wigan fans seem to agree. We don't get the respect that we deserve, so I'll not apologise for biting back.

| Frustrating to see so many players play within themselves last night, but I always go back to a season where under Wane we were blowing teams off the park in the middle of the season but ran out of steam come play offs.
It's not great as a fan but we know that the coaches will be focusing on preparing for peaking to the play offs so these spells will happen as we have seen in the past. One player we are missing especially last night was Walters - he's quickly become our most dynamic prop.
As fans it's still valid to query some of the tactic though - mine would be why we don't spell more of the players - I think Faz has played almost every game, give Smith a break and play Farrimond....

I've got a tremendous amount of respect for the Wigan club, it's whole ethos is what every team should aspire to achieve. Likewise I have nothing but admiration for Matty Peet and (most) of your fans. My use of 'stars' was to highlight the fact that too many of your team last night looked as though they believed that they only had to turn up to win, and played as though grafting for the win was beneath them. One eyed fans like you try and avoid that harsh truth by diverting your opprobrium onto opposition fans, but truth be told that's just a display of your ignorance.

Like I said - tell yourself whatever makes you feel happy. Harsh truth - it is beneath them & it's holding the sport back. What's the motivation for playing away at Hudds/Dewsbury, Wakefield & Cas? Its a dull prospect as a fan, nevermind as a player. It's the same as the FA Cup, big team goes to the minnows and either scrape a victory, or get beat. The reason? Al the motivation is skewed to one side. I want big games, in modern stadia. Rivalries that mean something etc. Instead we got last night.

Trouble with you is that you can't accept that sport is about competition and respect. If you had your way Wigan would be playing Wigan reserves, then you couldn't lose. I suspect that's part of your problem, you think playing with yourself is preferable to any consideration for others.
