i've posted on Warriors fans this morning that i think when Havard gets back (another week or 2) that Matty has a selection problem in that Thompson, Havard and Walters can all play big minutes at good intensity. With Dupree and Mago being the rotation and impact, i think both Hill and Byrne will find themselves out of the squad, but we need to keep them interested to cover injuries or suspensions as they will be valuable squad members if we are to go for the GF again
i agree for this week just the 2 changes
Its been a long wait for us to have a set of props that can manage to be effective for more than 15 minutes without needing a rest, and should allow a back to occupy the bench. Jamie Peacock and James Graham seemed to manage almost all the game week after week, yet we've had years of props being less effective despite only being on the pitch for 15 mins at a time. Yep, good position to be in with Thompson, Havard and Walters all capable of doing 80 minutes, then the use of impact from the bench will be crucial to some of our games. The game where Mago did his 15 minute cameo last season is a classic example of what we should be looking at (although i agree it should be more than 15 mins) in terms of someone coming on and making an impact i personally think we have the best pack in terms of depth / rotation, and the capability to go at intensity for the full 80 minutes, without any drop off, and most sides wont be able to live with that for 80 minutes. they may get on top / dominate for a spell(s) during a game, but can they keep it up for the full 80?

How dare you say HKR don't have the best anything! I've seen this week (in various places) that they're now the best team in the league, the fittest team in the league and have the best pack in the league.
We're done for.

They must have conveniently forgot we went to KR, and outlasted them There is no doubt that KR are doing a lot of things right both on and off the pitch as many of us have commented over the last couple of seasons. Yes, they are top of the league but i dont believe they have the depth that we have across the park we've run without Havard all season, along with having Miski, Keighran, Thompson, Mago, O'Neill missing through injuries, but its never been mentioned, and thats testament to how deep our squad is. Everyone else has injuries too, but the commentators seem intent on saying that on TV

It's all building a good rivalry though and from our POV, it's music to our ears if the media want to provide the Wigan squad with some motivation because when you've won back to back titles, you need an angle to come from when making sure you're totally focused and have that desperation to keep winning and it will only help with that.

| Hull KR going to the cup final and therefore not having a week's rest this year has to help Wigan. Either Peters will rest players in and around the final and potentially drop points or he'll go full strength right through and hopefully be fatigued at the back end.
I think KR are ready to win a trophy - challenging for a double is a different proposition.

| I think it's great that Hull KR are mixing things up. Some of their fans are annoying and OTT but all clubs have them. The press seem to be lapping them up as well but I think that's a result of not having much else to talk about...
Though the last few years has solidified my opinion that our league just cannot support more than 2 or 3 decent teams at once - we just don't have the player base, quality coaches or youth setups to spread across that many clubs. If you look at the teams that have dropped off - Saints, Leeds and arguably Wire, Catalan, Huddersfield, most of their squad's are terrible but who are they meant to replace them with? There's no player market or an abundance of talent not being selected that clubs can go after.

This is why i believe that every club should have academies and reserves to provide a pool and pathway for players to make it to the top level. Wigan and Saints have done this for years, and its no coincidence they have been successful. The Leeds generation was a mix of signings and home grown talent. I know there is no way you can do it all from just academy players, but you need that in a salary capped sport as they are invariably on reduced salaries when they are breaking through and that increases as they take over from the experienced players

| Thought we were poor tonight.
Out enthused for periods and made some very basic errors. Contact in defence was way off.
We are definitely playing in third gear at the moment but given we are out of the cup that’s all we need to be.
Moments of brilliance in attack paper over the cracks of a very unwigan type performance tonight.
I’m being critical but I have no doubt we will not be making those same errors or out enthused in September and October.
Finally Hope ZE is ok. Worrying scenes and pathetic to hear cheers from the Leigh end when he stayed down.

Spot on Jon - really didn't enjoy our performance tonight aside from Bevan's brilliance. It's becoming a habit to take a big lead and then let the opposition back in - see Hull FC in the cup, Saints, Warrington twice and now Leigh. I just think its hard for the players to stay as motivated as they have been previously. Maybe the team needs that big game to focus on which we don't have for a while now.

| Way too much arm grabbing and nowhere near enough oomph in the tackle. Playing like we did in the middle of last season when it all went very flat for a couple of months, I'm with Jon on expecting us to pick up the pace when it matters though
