| Father Ted:
Have we won a penalty count in any game this season?
I'm pretty sure we won the Hudds penalty count 2-1 or 3-1, but the stats page on the SL site pulled through 0 penalties for each side or something.

I think it's that game which causes the discrepancy when you tally up what we've had. I had 22 after last week but the report in the press had 26. Stats are messed up for that game because it's not pulled any metres through either. The good thing is that since Peet spoke out, we've had two games where we've been given 4 penalties and a couple of six agains (huge numbers for us).The bad news is that miraculously our discipline has gone twice as bad as well and we've given away 17 in 2 games! It isn't changing anytime soon, so they'll just have to continue dealing with it.

| Well obviously, if players are inside the 10, they'll get pinged for it. Unless it could be demonstrated that opposition sides are doing the same, and not getting penalised.

| Absolute comedy gold article by Aaron Bower today on Love Rugby League, about who gets the most penalties and in particular, who gets the most at home and his summing up is that HKR, Hull and Leeds get the most penalties at home because they're the fittest teams...ha ha. It's nothing to do with them having supporters who get stuck in to the refs for 80 minutes solid...honest!!
Goes without saying that Wigan are bottom (probably because all the players are unfit puddings).

| Rumours around that Catalans didn't get a penalty or six again during the 80 mins. The club that the RFL didn't want at Wembley doesn't get a pen in 80 mins, surely not!
It's so blatant they're doing it so everyone will notice.

They got one penalty for a kick out on the full but nothing else. I can never believe the refs are under instructions or that they're corrupt but what I will say is that I've never known a stranger time in Rugby League in terms of decisions we're seeing, how lopsided penalty counts are, how often they're going to the VR for decisions and then how long they are taking. I personally wouldn't put pressure on the refs individually but Phil Bentham should be under a huge microscope at the minute.

| Only fair to drag this back up after winning our third penalty count on the trot last night! We hadn't won a single penalty count until 3 games ago against Leigh and now it's 3 on the spin.
Maybe it is all about making a bit of noise! That isn't right but there you go.

Well done to you NK for the work you did on it. Broader statements get brushed aside but the numbers you put on each game you mentioned changed the whole discussion. That journos are all over fans sites is now very obvious to us all. They also assisted in the "debate' in that Bentham felt he had to post an answer to the issue. Very striking that following all the posts on this and other sites plus Bentham's forced intervention we have now won penalty counts in the last 3 games. Coincidence? Not a chance! So well done and thanks NK.

It's all in keeping with the emerging pattern. There's an almost palpable need among the supposedly neutral RL media (who, as we know, are basically an arm of the game's ruling body) to see some trophies head to Humberside. And after the way praise was heaped on Leeds for managing to scrawp their way past Wakey the other day, the same shady group clearly want to see some glory in West Yorkshire too. None of this should surprise us.

In fairness as much as we've discussed it on here, I'm sure the reasons behind any noise has been from Peet discussing it with the officials and they'll have been all over the numbers, just as we've been on here. Winning no penalty counts before it being raised in the press and Peet being asked about it and then winning 3 on the spin since clearly looks to be more than a coincidence and that's as wrong as the problems coming about in the first place tbh but I'd rather have it this way. We'll see how we go over the rest of the season and then going forward because I don't doubt it'll flip back unless Peet keeps throwing the odd line out there.

None of this should surprise us. It's funny that the power base of the game in terms of success has swung massively to this side of the Pennines in recent years but media wise, the vast majority of rugby league press and certainly the journalists with the loudest voices are Yorkshire based (and without doubt Yorkshire biased). It definitely leads to an almost frenzied desire to see a Yorkshire/Humberside based club knock one of Wigan/Saints off their perch. I've always found the mentality over that way fascinating tbh. You go to towns and villages and they'll support the local rugby league club and say they dislike Leeds Rhinos but they support Leeds United! and loads support any Yorkshire team in a final if they're playing a team from over this way.
