Quote: Grimmy "Why? Both teams took the two points on offer whenever the had a vaguely kickable penalty. I'm struggling to believe they wouldn't therefore go for a two point drop goal to level the game with this rule. We know Powell can kick them from that range.'"
Do you mean the penalties in the 40th minute to take the lead, the penalty to make the game all square and the penalty in the 79th minute in an attempt to win the game? They weren't just kickable they were major turning points of the game.
No one in SL can drop goals with any regularity. No one in SL can kick a ball a decent length or accuracy with consistency. Kicking is a lost skill. It isn't prized by any player or coach. If it was every team would have at least one and preferably two.
Powell???? Sorry Grimmy you've lost me there. Sneyd is the only player with any sort of consistency in converting drop goals and a few of those have been golden point conversions so even he doesn't drop goals with regularity in normal game time.
