| Quote: trent "Why wouldn't I?
I do know the feelings of people within the club and trust me they are not very positive towards Bateman irrespective of what comes out in the media
These self same people have seen plenty of training ground bust ups over the years which have resolved themselves as those individuals involved knew full well that things often get heated in training, especially when results aren't going the clubs way
Whatever anyone says or thinks for that matter about this incident, then let me tell you that this was way,way above anything like that.
If that self same incident had happened to one of our own kids then I think people would see things a bit differently and would be demanding a far sterner sentence, maybe one which was handed out in a court of law
FWIW I believe that the club have gone as far as they possibly could in fining Bateman £10K plus banning him for 8 weeks without actually losing a valuable asset by sacking him and letting one of our rivals snap him up for free
We also have retained a player who is under contract and is one that we could possibly sell for a large transfer fee if things don't work out as planned
Would that option have been available to Mossop from our club if he had been the guilty party?
Some people within our club reckon not and that he would have been sacked without a doubt, that is causing some animosity within the club
Moving forward for the club, and that is the only thing that matters IMO,is that the club have got it right and that these negative feelings towards Bateman don't stop us winning a trophy or three this season, because if we don't win anything then strong questions will need to be answered'"
Because my contacts at the club (people who are very friendly with mossop) have told me **** all. they are sworn to secrecy

| Of course it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that some one may *know* what happened. But even if that is so, they'd be wise to keep it to themselves, I think.
As for the polis, I don't think that a lack of action from them necessarily means that nothing 'serious' has happened; it could well be a case of "he said, she said", with little chance of a successful prosecution in court.

Without speculating on this particular case - what often happens, especially with drink related offences, is the "victim" tells the police he/she does not wish to press charges and does not want to provide a statement. Police then decide to look at alternative cases more worthy of their time

unless a criminal act (violence) has occurred then they must act themselves
