27588.gif "Games as big as a grand finals define individuals and clubs. Remember we are only renting these shirts, I had my time in Pat Richards shirt. Ellery and Faz had there time in Sean's, Hampo and Radders in Sam's. You have to make a mark in these shirts that's still there the day you hand it over to someone else. So be aware for 80 minutes you are not only playing but also writing history and creating a legacy. How many people get to actually write history, not many. A big stage demands big players, be inspired. You play for Wigan, now go do it. Good luck." - Martin Offiah, 2010.:27588.gif |

| They were all fantastic last night:
Sarginson - looked natural at FB and chimed in to the line at the right time. Think he looked really dangerous with his hands on the ball a lot more. More promising that Tierney for sure.
Charnley - MOM for me, he was brilliant both in attack, making over 200 metres and in defence (where he ran from his own in goal and got us out of trouble was great). He looks likes he's had a great pre season and is fully fit again. Certainly looking closer to his old form so far.
Manfredi - I think this lad is special, he very rarely makes a mistake under the high ball and he's a fantastic kick returner - that break was magic last night. Not a bad finisher either, think international honours won't be far away.
Gelling - Getting better and better. Similar to Charnley, looks like he's in great condition after a full pre season and its paying off. He's consistently been one of our better performers this season.
Gildart - Was really pleased he got a shot at centre again last night and he certainly took it. He's not the biggest but holds his own and has fantastic footwork which causes problems for opposition big men. He knows his way to the try line too. Going to be a really good player in the future.
The promising thing is we've got Sam Tomkins coming back into the frame and the majority of that line are still young and got their best years ahead. The futures bright!

| According to the BBC Charnley is talking with Sale about a move to RU. Very disappointed if that happens. I don't think he's strong enough in the tackle for internationals but he's a fine club winger.

| Sarginson can't pass so any threat he has disappears when has to offload. Some of his passes last week were atrocious for a full time pro. His pass into touch in the second half was unbelievable in its execution. What he did well was to give us a sense of urgency and go forward. I haven't clue where his best position is.
Can Gelling actually complete a two handed pass? Better at 4 than 3.
Gildart looks an exciting prospect with great footwork.
I like Manfredi but think he lacks a bit of pace to be a top class winger.
Charnley I think has declined from a top notch winger to average Joe with very little threat however, I thought there was a big improvement last week so hopefully he can get back to something like his old self.

| Josh had by far his best game for Wigan for several years last Friday. He seems to have rediscovered his pace and made a couple of fantastic runs - reminded me of the CC Q/F win against Warrington in 2011 when he ran 90 metres and scored a crucial try.
He certainly looked hungrier - the key to all this is consistency and he needs to be performing at this level every week.
I read somewhere he had made over 220 metres against Leeds - a phenomenal amount. If he and Manfredi continue their rich vein of form, we are in for a very good season - the return of Sam will hopefully be the catalyst behind all the backs finally gelling as a unit this season.

I did so deliberately - thought it most appropriate as Gelling will hopefully be playing a big part in the gelling.....!
