2572.jpg Ah, good taste!
What a dreadful thing!
Taste is the enemy of creativeness.

| Quote: Mash Butty "He was outstanding, he was a true competitor who Andy Farrell looked up to, figuratively speaking of course. If he wasnt injured in the 2003 semi final wigan would have won the grand final against the bulls.'"
what i remember of that final, we were well and truly battered and deserved to lose. having lam wouldnt have made a difference. nobby used their huge team to great effect.
also fwiw lam didnt play in the semi win at leeds. his last game was the eliminator vs saints.

| Quote: Pemps "Is the 'make yourself available for Aus' rule a new one then? Lam and Craig Smith both played Origin but neither made themselves available for Aus. If it is a new rule then I think it's pretty obvious that they've brought it in to kill off their International competition.'"
Lam got to play origin because of the ARL and Super League seperation at the time if I remember correctly, so he was a bit of an exception due to so many players signing with Super League. Don't quote me on that though, it was a long time ago!
Quote: Pemps "Big call. Better than Tomkins?
Tomkins is a freakish athlete and better than anyone with ball in hand, but Lam made players around him better. I haven't seen a player with as good a creative game in this country in my time watching, not even close. He used to win games almost single handedly for Queensland bringing others into the game.
I think we are a little too obsessed with runners in this country and hence we haven't created a pair of world class half backs for years and that frustration taints my judgement a little, but in terms of rugby league skills he is among the Joey Johns and Thurstons in terms of class.

I stand corrected on the stains being his last match. However it was 2001 GF when we got battered we gave them a game in 2003 with the legend Mike gregory in charge, we had stupid little Luke "clueless" Robinson playing as scrum half, remember the lad who used to kick grubbers when we had a 9 man overlap? With Lam in that final we could have won it. I'm sorry you think otherwise.

| Quote: Smurf "Adrian Lam was awesome, always remember him having a stormer in the origin games. I'd say he's also the best player I've seen for Wigan in my time watching. Proper half back who took games by the scruff of the neck.'"
Lam was a fine player but there have been a few better than him since.
