Quote: Last Son of Wigan "Roberts issues maybe mental not physical. He as always looked in top shape. Whether it's homesickness, fear from the injury or simply isn't bothered about playing for Wigan.
Bottom line is, he only plays first grade when good enough.'"
Maybe, its certanly not the first time that people have commented about issues away from the game that may be effecting his performances.
However i think its safe to assume that Maguire likes players that can run, pass and tackle consistently well and so far this season Roberts has come up short when he has had an opportunity - thats not to say he is a bad player but other players have taken their opportunity well.
Its something that i really like about Maguires Wigan - if you play well you keep your place in the team, if you make mistakes - and keep making them then you will not be selected - i don't think the same could be said about Wigan under Noble and thats part of the reason that we are the current champions.
Ive heard it many times on here that players just need a run of games to help their confidence but what use is that when a player is falling short in the basics of the game?
Last seasons performances count for nothing in the current Wigan regime and neither do reputations....those days are thankfully gone.
