Quote: SMB93 "They’re panicking and trying too hard. Throwing unnecessarily wild passes on the 2nd, resulting in incomplete sets… they need to be more disciplined, complete sets, kick to the corner, wear the opposition down and the try’s will come. I thought our Defence today was brilliant, yet our attack was disorganised and scrappy. I think teams have really identified our back 5 as a weakness when playing the ball from in our own 10 - we were absolutely strangled there and struggled to make the meters to get out of our own 20 on many occasions. We only really looked anywhere near dangerous, off the back of 20 meter restarts, but even then, as I’ve said previously, we looked scrappy and didn’t execute…. A lot of positives to take away from that game, but we have to improve our composure in attack.'"
Couldn’t agree more. I think Meadows has improved but if he is our only ‘creative’ player he needs to be a bit calmer at times. Defensively we work really hard but it’s inevitable we’ll get worn down eventually as every team is bigger than us, so we need to make metres and to score more tries. Our failure to recruit in key areas has left us vulnerable, a couple of injuries to key personnel has left us more so but, in my opinion, the point has been overplayed. We needed and should have recruited better. Last season two quality players, allbeit on summer holidays, transformed a bunch of hardworking, honest players into champions. We needed similar positive recruitment this season and have t done so. Campo may come good but the fact he wasn’t mentioned in Eccles injury updates suggest he isn’t going to be on the pitch anytime soon by which stage the season will be done and dusted and we may find ourselves in a worse place than if we’d never gone up.
