Yes! just after 8am this Friday morning, I was pleased with the layout of the email, very professional, I think it delivered a lot for this stage, knowing fans from other Championship Clubs, it is not like Super League with plenty of ££££ to throw around with signings etc. Good to see we have 20 players signed, and a few more close to announcement. The announcement of plans for Plough Lane, and packages, just waiting for final legal signings, and should be within two weeks. Good to see The Club, asking for help in some areas. I have no doubt as we move into November more will soon be announced.

No sign of it yet! Had 2 from Fulham & 1 from Quins today though.

If I understand correctly they have 8 signed/ retained players not yet announced and som more to come.
Of last year’ squad one assumes Hanky has gone back to Wigan and Aston has been heavily linked with Halifax. That leaves Egodo, Moran, Sammut, Olsi K, Walters, Hindmarsh, Williams, Boafo & Varela. That’s 9- I’d be surprised if we had retained all those. Varela in some kind of loan deal with Skolars. No weak links there I think but retaining Walters and Sammut and Boafo would be particularly promising. However we do need some new decent Championship standard players to make up for those we have lost.....and only took us to 7th place ...so who knows what’s happening. It does look like we’ll be able to have a full 17 at least before injuries hit so that is a positive.

Who knows. He got concussion a couple of games in and never played again although was regularly to be seen at games. It wouldn’t massively surprise me if he was kept on in a white collar type role- community engagement. I’d have thought if he was retiring LB would have announced that by now. No doubt all will become clear.

Maybe they are learning from some suggestions made on this forum in last few years!! However, bit I don't understand is they say they have signed up 20 players but have only announced a handful or so. Why the delay?

Yes I don’t either really. I can see they would want to keep their powder dry to an extent for some showpiece announcements ( in relative terms) but If it’s true then I would try and pulse out signings at the same rate as departures were announced. So yesterday they should have said congrats to Jordan on staying for another year or some such.

I like what I hear about our new signings but I am concerned that we now seem to be the top club for signing top L1 talent. It’s difficult not to be slightly apprehensive about that although these will undoubtedly be good hungry players but when you see who Leigh, Halifax and an ever increasing list of our competitors - Newcastle, York... are signing it’s difficult not to fear that if we come 8th next season that’s a pretty good outcome. If I understand correctly it’s looking like a 20 club two tier SL so we would need to come 8th at least to be in unless it’s done by licence.

PS thinking about it and our focus on youth I think many of these 20 players may be Academy prospects stepping up rather than current players being retained. I hadn’t thought of that before but that too has massive short terms challenges.

Looking at our current squad vs rest of championship, finishing 8th will be a stretch. Fev, Leigh, Fax, bradford, batley, newcastle, york, widnes are all superior to us right now, so thats top 8, so your looking at 9th at best, and I have a feeling at least one of the cumbrian clubs will over acheive again. So if SL2 is based on end of season placing, then it looks like a big ask right now

Nothing in my in-box, nor has there been for a long time now. Only to be expected, I guess.

Interesting, though, that they seem to want the LBSA to provide free labour given the Monkey's attempt to sideline that organisation last year.
