It is said that Leigh have received a parachute payment from the RFL following their relegation from Super League. The sum of half a million pounds has been mentioned. It may not be true, but if it is.
How much did Hull KR receive in 2016? Did they receive anything? I have no idea. If they did not, but Leigh have. Something very wrong, is going on here.
Surely when we were relegated along with Bradford, due to reducing the number of teams in the League, we would have been due a similar payment.
It strikes me that Red Hall are making the rules up as they go along. It is not good enough.

Always said that the return of promotion and relegation would lead to clubs spending next year's money on the gamble of getting promoted. Leigh were always the prime favourites for this - Halifax and Fev seems to stare in to the abyss then pull back. Leigh's failure in Year 1 stacked up the stakes on the gamble; hence this situation unfolds to keep them from going bust (again).

Last season,every SL club agreed to pay a certain amount, (which equated to around £500k) to the club who would be relegated. This was agreed before the 8s. HTH.

That was my understanding as well god. The only issue with this is if next year they didn't pay it.

Think that’s the case. They saw KR go down, pooped their pants and agreed to save their own bacon.

They received a payment, which everyone called a parachute payment but I’m sure the RFL spent a lot of time telling everyone it wasn’t. KR didn’t get one and the Payment at the end of last year (to Leigh) was more all the SL teams protecting themselves rather than the RFL coughing up.

...or it could be just that it is common knowledge HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
