| Looking forward to the game on Sunday, and fingers crossed that we don't get Tonked. I know we will have to play much better than first two games, but have seen enough in the 2nd half vs Swindon to think we might be able to keep it close
Have to avoid stupid penalties, and complete sets to have any chance, but if we can keep them under 30, and score 2 or 3 tries ourselves, then it might get interesting.
Just really hoping we don't end up with a 52-6 type blowout... that would set us right back in terms of confidence and any plans to challenge the top 4
Crash

| Agree with you on that.
Listening to the Oldham game on radio discipline was shocking, do that against leigh and it will cost us dearly. Possession is the key to any game and completion rate needs to be high. Am hoping they are still unsettled by the Paul Rowley departure. It's still only game 3 but I think the scoreline rather than the result will give us an indication of how the season is going to go. A Win obviously would be nice, we are not in must win territory but a competitive performance is needed. I don't want a loss but if we do lose i would like to us within 2 scores

| I just hope the referee, Mr Stokes is up to the job. It may need a strong hand this game.

| I still worry about our "grunt" up the middle, last season (and the season before that and before that et al) we just got bullied, against sides with a half decent set of Props.

| They seem to have a fair amount of injuries atm, especially at centre. Possibly 6 or 7 players out!
But they have just recruited Richard Whiting on loan.

| We must cut out the forward passes and sort the kicking out! One kick out on the full and Wes missing from in front doh. Got to learn to be ruthless and take the chances, given the state Leigh are in, if we play to potential and get the breaks we could cause a shock.

Get LEIGH outta wigan: |
|
| This has got to be the best time to be playing Leigh, new full back,no centres & the half backs not really firing yet.
I'll be surprised if you dont win this game by at least 10 points

I agree with you, and with Lovegrove gone we've less in the way of experience/ savvy too. Even if we play a mistake free ( relatively speaking) game I think we'll do well to stay within 20-30 points of Leigh

I'm sure there won't be anything like that in it. We've been fairly unconvincing so far and, although there were signs of improvement last weekend, our backs have been hard hit by injuries. McNally, Tonga, Pala (just left the club) and Armstrong are definitely out, with Worthington and Ridyard doubtful. On the plus side, Brierley will be back, Whiting is available, and our forwards are strong, with only Dixon and Beswick definitely missing.

| Alan, what have you seen so far this season have you been bullying the opposition around the park like last year? It's not a criticism, it worked and get results.

[quote="Steve":1xb0p6sn] Dislike Leigh with a passion, but they are a million miles ahead of any other club in this league, a sad fact. [/quote:1xb0p6sn]:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_24148.jpg |

Defence has been brutal but fair and (so far) our discipline has been massively improved. A few too many technical offences given away but very few for high tackles etc. No cards, fights or mouthing off bar a bit of pushing and shoving at Batley.
Hopefully we can keep it up as we got dragged into tough forward battles far too often last season against teams we probably could have run rings round on the edges.
Ironically the opposite is probably true for Sunday. We have loads of props to pick from whereas our outside backs are dropping like flies so a forward battle could suit us more than usual.
McNally, Beswick, Tonga, Armstrong, Dixon and Barlow are all injured. Pala was injured and has just left the club. Ridyard, Worthington and Maitua are also all doubts for Sunday so you have probably caught us at the right time. On the upside Paterson should hopefully be making his 1st league appearance and Whiting is also a possibility after joining on loan this afternoon.
Should be a great game!

Much as 'Nozzy' says micky. The tackling and drives of our forwards have been brutal, although our defence has had a tendency to crumble, in our own 22 and has not yet reached the required standard. (4 tries conceded at Batley and 3 against Oldham)
The fluency we achieved in attack last season, has not yet been achieved - perhaps understandably, given the number of new guys we are trying to fit in. There were signs of it against Oldham - a superb try finished by Maitua from an Oldham kick off - but there's some way to go yet, especially with key backs nissing.
Remember, you beat us last season, and gave us a close game in the league, at Leigh. Also, never under-estimate the effects of a good start to the season, and you have achieved that, results-wise. Success breeds success!
Have a good trip, if you are travelling up to Leigh, for the game.

| Cheers for that fellas, hoping our lot give you a good run for your money, think it was us that stopped your winning run which was heck of a shock and unexpected. To be honest last year I had you nailed on to do really well in the super 8s and to be playing super league this year, but less said about that.
Good luck for the season, hope you have a mare on Sunday though.

Leigh squad:-

So, no McNally, Tonga, Ridyard, Beswick, Spencer, Dixon, Armstrong or Barlow. Still pretty strong up front though.
