I understand that there are now nine full time referees, which means that there are full time refs available for Championship games.
With any luck this will help to improve the standard of refereeing. Cannot say in the first two games I have seen, that has been the case.

You probably haven't noticed the difference as the game has sped up over the same period due to increased professionalism.

PT refs and FT players just doesn't go at SL level.

Fitness levels of full time refs has improved massively, and being full time they spend a lot of time reviewing and prepping for games.

I can see the benefits of a growing pool of full time refs and it should ultimately improve standards. However as some improve, the differences from one week to another may become more magnified. Know all refs differ slightly but will it result in players become more frustrated.

It's not a case of 3 getting dropped, there are only 6 elite games each week so having 9 elite refs available means competition for games and gives them some redundancy when they have injuries etc. They were down to 5 available elite level refs a couple of rounds last year so they needed an increase from the 6.

Games stretch from Thur to Sun over a weekend is 2 games to much to ask.

Call it being dropped call it having competition for games, there are 6 elite games a weekend ergo 3 elite refs will not get a sl game. And if you only have 6 full time refs like last year 1 gets injured then you have no redundancy and end up having to use lower tier less well prepared refs.
If guys are not performing to expected standard they may well end up doing champ games but that would mean grade 1 ref getting lesser games which then becomes counter productive. Ideally the sport should have full time officials that could cover all pro games but evening we had that experience and ability would differ depending on the individual
