I feel his is a lucky coach, he seems to be in the right place at the right time.
I do know he is a hard working coach, who put in a lot of work when at the Broncos. So perhaps he made his own luck.

Hindsight is 20/20.

Who knew that all those years bumbling along in the lower reaches of Super League were actually the glory days.

Sacking Mac wasn't the problem - failing to appoint an adequate replacement was.

I still believe if we had brought in Michael McGuire post Mac we would still be in SL, particularly as that year we spent the full SC.

Rob Powell won 4 of his 5 first games in charge and 4 of his 5 last games in change. Only 8 more wins in the intervening 49 games.

TR won only 8 from 42 (19%) in his 2013-14 spell.

It's interesting to talk to people who played at London under Mc.

There was a time where they lost a game at home. He was so peeved at the players, he ordered them to do a fitness session, where they were flogged at. This happened shortly after the game itself.

On other occasions he made them do military training at sparrow's when they lost games.

Every Aussie that I have spoken to have said he was a good coach. The results may not show that, but it sounds like we had a good general who didn't have the best ammo to win the war.

I think he was a good coach, as you say without the actual resources. He put in place many structures we have benefitted from (since destroyed and now having to be re-established). Made links to the wider amateur game others had ignored. Created more of a club than the just the team that had existed before. The results shouldn't just be viewed on the first team performance.
