Don't get me wrong I think he's a twonk but given the parlous state of the club can we really do any better?
No one with any pedigree in sports management will touch us with a bargepole.
So unless we take a punt on someone untried & untested we're stuck with him I reckon.

I agree with you. We are not in a good situation here. We will have to accept he is the ceo for the forseable future and hope he can make a fist of it now. After all he is no longer looking for a ground  so he has more time for other things. Im also hoping there is more good news ahead we don't know about yet which will help this move make more sense. |

We're a professional sports team and it'd take a professional marketer/ceo 1 day to improve the club and therefore improve his CV.
We could and should do FAR better than Gus

Someone I know works at Surrey Cricket Club, and I asked that person a while back what they thought of Gus. They didn't recoil in horror at his name - they didn't think he was particularly good or bad. They said his weakness was he micro-managed everything.

As a test match venue the Oval is basically a licence to print money & Surrey reported a loss when Gus was in charge.
Still his cricket links did provide that kit supplier GF is so fond of. |

I might be mis-remembering, but I think Yorkshire County Cricket declined to apply for an Ashes test last time round because the fees they would have to pay to the ECB for the right to host one were so high they didn't see how they could make any money out of it. |

Same here. Several ex Surrey and Sussex staff had nothing good to say about him and commiserated us on having him with us.
Also anyone who knows recent any ex-Broncos staff or has actually met Gus himself will know his character.
Thick, incompetent and totally disliked but buoyed by a level of arrogance and aggression that means no failure, no insult and no criticism will ever get through. He is the king of his own world. |
