| The WCC has been finalised for Friday 22nd Feb at Headingley and Melbourne are preparing in London for a week beforehand. One hopes/trusts that a little runout against the Broncos may be in order?

In the 2 years we previously did this, the RFL took control of the marketing in year 1, we got close to 8k IIRC, the second year, the club marketed it and they got 2,000 less
Pointless excercise unless they COLLECT THE FUCKING NAME AND ADDRESS OF EVERY OFF DUTY BARMAN WHO ATTENDS AND INVITE THEM BACK

| The Storm are my Aussie side so I'd welcome this but like everything London Broncos it needs to be marketed. Will it be marketed? Not a chance.

| As I said when the first game was announced years back, the club and the RFL needed to agree that for the following 5 years this "warm up" game should be bolted on for London, with TNT sponsoring it, the teams playing for the TNT Trophy......regardless of if we let 10,000 aussies in for a quid, WE'D COLLECT THEIR DATA and invite them back later in the season.
We took some friends to the Manly game and one of them overheard a conversation in the ladies loo between two shiela's that went something like this.
#1 "Great night eh"?
#2 "Footie, mates and beer.....what's not to like?"
It's not brain science, it just involves thought and a shed load of hard work.......I doubt that any names andaddresses were collected that night.....sums the club up perfectly.
Too many times you'll hear sob stories from the club about how they've tried everything....there's no appetitie for RL in TW2......in reality, they've tried absolutely nothing that showed initiative or was cutting edge...they have stumbled along doing "safe" stuff.....it makes me so ing angry at times.

"That wasn't a kick, the was a pass with his foot!" Brian Noble making Andrew Voss lose sleep: |
|
| We haven't played the nrl champions for a few seasons now have we, and I don't see why they would want to play us anyway as the impression I get is that they don't even care about the WCC.
A one off couldn't hurt though as hopefully in 2014 we'll be in the WCC game ourselves : )

So could a possible solution be we hire the RFL marketing person or we outsource our marketing to the RFL?

Excellent ideas GF but the RFL are totally useless and inept when it comes to marketing. Must be a jinx or a curse on their PR dept.

They weren't useless when Adey Spencer promoted the Manly game but he's long gone. Think they now have a London office so maybe there's hope. Not convinced it will happen at all though.

Ady was a real loss to the RFL......he single handedly promoted that Manly game, as well as organising a meet and greet at the walkabout that was shamefully under attended by London and ANZAC RL fans. There is a London office now, which is interested (correctly IMO) in growing the yoof participation in the capital.....it's a joke that the #1 professional RL club in the Capital would need help attracting fans to a game featuring the Aussie champs.......but David Hughes has no grasp on the realities of speculating to accumilate.....spend 50k getting 10,000 fans at 20 quid each...... ......if we are paying 200k a season for 11 games, then at 18k a game, they'd make a profit of 132k.........
someone should buy DH and Gus a calculator for Xmas
