It would seem we are going to avoid the wooden spoon.

Widnes play Wire and Cas go to Hull.

Both need to win/draw for us to drop to the bottom. (Here come the pedants with points for and against)

Both will lose and we will win so the +/- points difference won't apply to London!

Wire can't finish anywhere other than second. They rested players at our place (before the cup final) and got stuffed; if they rest players in readiness for the play offs they could easily get turned over, as Widnes seem to have had a few good home wins this year.

Likewise Hull can't finish anywhere other than sixth (given the points difference disparity between themselves and Leeds) so would they be absolutely motivated to beat a side desperate to avoid the wooden spoon?

Of course our own opponents have little to play for. (They could sneak above Bradford by beating us if Bradford lose in Perpignan, but that wouldn't really count for much in the overall scheme of things.)

I'll go for Widnes and ourselves to win with Cas losing at Hull to finish bottom, although it wouldn't surprise me if all of the bottom three won.

Hull need to maintain the momentum after a good win going into the play offs. Cas are rubbish.

Who knows what Smith will do. I think they are now running hot and will keep there good form going. Plus its the scouse gets from down the road they are playing.

We can beat HKR if we get a few back from injury.

I'd settle for not getting nilled.

We can win this if TR can get them playing like they did against Warrington. HKR will be on a downer. Last game of the season, at home and the real possibility of picking up another win......what more encouragement do they need.

There is no such thing as the wooden spoon. There's nothing to get excited about ... 12th or 13th or 14th ... so what.

We've also not won the hub cap - That means we havent been the best team.

I think Castleford have played the worst this season, then us and that Widnes have been contesting more games than many right to the hooter.

At least four or five losses in the last five minutes has done them though.

I'd be tempted to have an insurance bet of Widnes, Hull KR and Cas all to win. You'd get about 50/1 or more and can go out on the
P155 with the proceeds if we do bottom out!
