1649_1338292262.jpg I have followed the LONDON CLUB since I was in my teensl even though born in St Helens and still live nearby and went to the first game at Fulham, also Big West Ham Supporter:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_1649.jpg |

Interesting announcement of the appointment of Phil Bailey on the website and facebook as Head of Recruitment & Player Logistics, while welcomed as we need to start looking towards 2013 everyone else is, I would rather the Review had been completed quickly (by now) and the announcement of an Head Coach a first priority and for Rob Powell to work with youth like Mike Rush at St Helens.

| What on earth is player logistics? If I was cynical I would say increasingly it seems to get a job at the club, you must either
a) have a brother on the playing staff; or
b) have failed at Skolars

| Is this good?.......Does he have any proven expertise in this area? I have no idea.
I am concerned though that Powell may not now be going anywhere. You would expect a new coach to have a say in who stays, goes and who we need, but if Bailey has a hand in recruitment (no doubt in conjunction with RP) it sort of suggests they/he will still be running things long term doesn`t it?

Black Backgrounds/Zoot.gif Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

Unfortunately, I tend to agree with you. Now why does the expression 're-arrangeing the deck chairs on the Titanic' occur to me?

| If he is unsuccessful I have a song ready for the occasion (though I am not sure what 'player logistics' is!)
"won't you go home Phil Bailey, won't you go home!"
Another curious decision at this most enigmatic of clubs.

| I would suggest player logistics is football manager.
I'd seen Phil at the training ground but the club wouldn't confirm what he was doing there when I asked.
Spoke to Phil yesterday at the Magic Weekend and he mentioned he'd been helping with recruitment, which must be a good thing solely on the amount of time he's been in the game and the level he's played at.
The experience he'll bring to the club could be invaluable.

Quote: Head of preventing any more Hickey-esque blunders " and Player Logistics'" Deciding who shares hotel rooms and where they sit on the bus
Well, perhaps not, may be it's "Head of preventing any more Hickey-esque blunders" and ensuring that past-it players are not offered contracts beyond their usefulness. And it could enable him to be involved in coaching without saying so.
Addition of any experience is to be welcomed but he's hardly the coaching guru that most have been calling for.

| This just sums up everything that is wrong with the club. They announce a review of the entire set up and then, before it's reported back (or even taken any evidence as far as we know) they appoint someone to the hugely important role of player recruitment. So what if the review states we need changes to the coaching staff, are we going to bring in a new man who might not like Bailey or value him or even want anyone doing that job?
It's a basket case of a club that wanders aimlessly from one f*ck up to another. Just take it out back and shoot the bloody thing! Either they're going to do this properly or not do it at all, because at the moment it's just wasting Dave Hughes' money and everyone else's time.

Agree -
While the consensus is that there is an ideal order that things should be done -Coach etc- the club would be silly to miss out on an opportunity just because - 'it is getting the rest of its house in order'

| It probably is good news Bailey has been employed by the club , now for the really good news the club will announce Powell to get a new contract for another three years - the club thought they would keep the little gem to please us all until we are back at the stoop and can cheer and clap and slap RP's back in salutation but the news got out first
On a serios note, what does it all mean Bailey coming in to help Powell and no mention of the review?

Because it's 100% spot on when describing the farce that is unfolding at TW2 Towers.

| Recruitment is pretty straight forward. "I need this" says coach. He then gets what he can often talking to many agents, which is why you often hear rumours about clubs talking to players.
Player Logistics, whilst I'm not aware of this title in any NRL clubs, it possibly includes duties like:- team manager, stats, player welfare, education etc.
Don't forget the great Dom Fenton is no longer at the club. He was the manager.

| Rooster is recruitment so easy when your in a black hole like we are? if you were approached by Powell would he currently enthuse you? wow I must sign for them!
Clubs are recruiting earlier and earlier the September approach ruling seems to have been binned by most clubs! Yes it would be best to recruit once we know who is going to be coach 2013, but we can't wait! and yes Dom had never been replaced!
