| "From the Quins RL Messagebaord" posted by Quin Robin
"It is with much regret that I am the bearer of bad news. Ron Snares, former Fulham Supporters' Club chairman from the early days of the birth of Fulham RL club (now Quins RL) passed away peacefully in his sleep at the end of August.
To the newer fans, Ron and his late wife Mo were no ordinary people and set a standard of support and leadership as fans of Fulham and RL in London that few have come close to mirroring. Along with Barry and Gwen Warren these Southerners helped to plough a path for RL in London and their natural friendliness and warmth made them well known and popular at every RL ground visited. Their popularity extended to players, many of whom remain friends today.
When the club played at Chiswick Polytechnic, you could find Ron and Mo with other hardy stalwarts doing whatever needed doing to help with the running of affairs. I can still picture both of them with Gwen in the matchday shop, which was a converted caravan.
I hope that the club observe a minutes silence for Ron against Saints, as this was no ordinary fan. He lived and breathed Fulham, Crusaders, Broncos, etc. He can be credited with introducing the idea of sponsorship to Richard Branson, when they met when Ron was decorating his Holland Park home. Whilst Richard did not immediately involve himself, he did own the club a few years later and the Virgin logo adorned everything. Ron had set the seeds and gently badgered away.
Well done Ron. A pleasure and privelege knowing you and Mo. RIP old friend and my sincere condolences to the family."
RIP.

A sad loss, Ron was a stalwart of the club, and without the likes of him would have folded in the mid 1980s. RIP from all the old Fulham RLFC faithful.

| I see that the RFL has decided there will be a game wide minutes silence for Dana Wilson, the Swinton player tragically killed in a car crash, hopefully the club will have a joint one minute for Ron as well.

Black Backgrounds/Zoot.gif Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

| Yes, RIP Ron. Didn't know that Mo had died - that's 5 of the old maintenance crew gone now as they join Bob Evans, Gwen Warren and Harry Stammers.
Just had a thought - given the number of people that knew Ron 'up north', would it be an idea to put something on the Virtual Terrace?

I'd second that. At the time his role was as crucial as DH today. Mo and Ron true legends.
