| Yorkshire vs Lancashire Origin series with tickets included with the purchase of any season ticket.
1 game series as a selection tool for the 2012 England vs ANZAC Allstars.
Gives England players the chance to go into camp with different players, experiencing new environments, playing infront of capacity crowds at the likes of the Millenium Stadium, Murrayfield, Elland Road, Old Trafford or Twickenham.
England would benefit from this massively with a real intense origin game, the RFL would get a proper showpeice event that would enable them to gain more partners, companies and money into the game, the likes of Ben Harrison get to see if they can cut it for their adopted county and the players would get to focus on a proper test in the new War of the Roses Origin series.
1 game series, with this fixture replacing the Magic weekend so no additional fixtures. Selected players stood down the week before to ensure top condtioning of players. Free tickets as part of your rugby league season ticket ensures a full house. Yorkshire vs Lancashire (and the rest) ensures a real intense rivalry both on and off the pitch. Selection for the match around a month later against the ANZAC Allstars up for grabs and also the Four Nations.
A viable, workable and worthwhile plan?

| Well seeing as we're not in either of the two places, I can't see a hugely positive response here

| Where are these sell out crowds coming from?? Where are these new partners coming from??
"Free tickets as part of your rugby league season ticket ensures a full house"
Based on what evidence??? And where does the additional matchday income come from if loadsa tickets are given away "gratis"??
"Selected players stood down the week before to ensure top condtioning of players." No club will agree to selection "interference" from any outside body of players fit to play for their clubs the week before such a game.
If I were the RFL I would replace the mid season test with France with a England v The "RL Barbarians" match (made up of Superleague non English players and maybe some up and coming talent from the "emerging" nations) and I would take this game on the road to RFL "development areas" of the UK perhaps on a bid basis, if this were viable.
The French could play a version of the four nations at the end of the season with Wales, Scotland and Ireland. These games would be far more competitive for the French and the England v Baa-Baa's game would be a lot more benificial to the national team, than yet tonking our gallic cousins out of sight ........... again.
I would retain the magic weekend but move it back to the August Bank Holiday and again take it to RL development areas and not neccessarily just major cities. I know some have suggested Nottingham as a place to try it (2 reasonable sized stadiums in the same city), excellent transport links. We don't need to put this event on in half empty 40-50,000 capacity stadia when in truth almost full 20-30,000 capacity stadia would be such a better visual and atmostpheric proposition.
On the back of this the game would receive a massive boost should the national side ever win the World Cup and would stir up the curiosity of both the casual punter and footbal centirc media.

| Backward step IMO. This will only appease the M62ers. Roll on when we can put a Southern side to whip their northern asses!

| Its all been done before and failed. We cant even fill the Stoop for the best 2 teams in the world.
Sky are trying to get away from the M62 hence the introduction of Quins, Catalans, Crusaders, fast tracking of Toulouse, South Wales etc-are you seeing a trend here

I suppose so, seeing as Fulham/Broncos were. But I don't see any value in that.
RL is trying to get away from its traditional base. 115 years of history and we'd still be stuck with Lancs v. Yorks. No thanks!

| Just trying to improve the image of the game by replacing an huge empty stadium with a 40,000+ full one and improve the quality of the national side by giving them an origin style game, something that many coaches and players from both hemispheres have said we need. Not trying to sideline Quins, I enjoyed the two Magic Weekends that I've been to, just not sure what the quantity aspect of the magic weekend adds to the Super League.

Could be the way to go for the Magic Weekend. The Millenium Stadium was put forward as a venue that would rule out any weather issues and the Super League season starts before the Six Nations. Cardiff has lots of pubs and you will never get cold drinking in a pub.
Twickenham as a venue?
