We're not all Southern Softies: |
|
| Watched the Union match which I found quite slow until the second half, when their side started throwing the ball around instead of just kicking for touch.
The South Stand is awesome & the view is great considering you are behind the sticks.
Enjoyed trying to get the Quins supporters going with our ("We're Quins R.U. ? We're Quins R.U. ?"icon_wink.gif chant.
They just seem too staid & reserved to actually join in.
It was nice to see some of them stay behind to watch our game but it was only a few.
The ones that I spoke to in the bar afterwards all enjoyed their experience & said they thought the atmosphere was great for such a small crowd & would definately return again throughout the summer.
I think it showed us as having 5200 in attendance for our game, so definately a step in the right direction.
On the reverse side of the coin, whilst waiting to get the train from Twickenham on the way home, I got talking to a crowd of Union supporters & asked them if they enjoyed the League game? to which they replied that they didn't bother to stay for our game & had gone to the Cabbage Patch to watch the European Rugby game instead as they don't consider Rugby League as a proper sport. Despite trying to persuade them otherwise, I had to admit defeat as they just refused to see any reason.
So therein lies the problem.
Despite all our efforts, the vast majority of the Quins Rugby Union fans, are just not interested in our code!!!

| I'm a duel season ticket holder, so for me the day was perfection. Quins RU saved their best home performance of the season, played some super stuff in the second half. Henry Fa'afili (remember him??!!) had a reasonable game for Leeds. Given the magnitude of the Munster v Northampton match, I was actually pleasantly surprised by how many union fans did stay behind, actually. The atmosphere for league is incomparable at The Stoop, even a full house of 14,500 is quiet compared to a good day of the L&L.

| If we have got a few hundred out of the more open minded RU supporters then surely thats a succes. Its not realistic to expect them to come in in their thousands to RL when their reason for attending their own game is not even to watch the game. Lets convert as many as are open to be converted from RU, soccer or whatever and collectively we will get the numbers. First though we need a product to sell and a team floundering at the bottom of SL is something you can't sell to the converted let alone new customers. Lets home we can sign young Penny for the season at least and then build on that. For me I'd give him a permanent contract now if Wire let us but I guess thats hoping for too much.

| I'm a Warrington fan and I'm gutted Penny can't get into the team. Stopped in to watch the game yesterday evening just to watch how he fared. Brilliant performance! the officials were a joke also. really wanted Kevin to come back but after watching him enjoy himself so much would love it if he signed for you now. Good luck for the rest of the season

| Thought it was an excellent day all round. Would love to sign Leeds centre - Rabeni, HP reckons no chance of him swapping codes.
Thought for the future, would be great if they could arrange the double header with Carnegie and Rhinos, would make the ticket pricing etc a lot less grief, probably a lot easier to market as well.
