Following last nights match between Saints & Wakey, I was wondering if the RFL will take any action against either Jason Demetriou for his hit on Paul Wellens, or Keiron Cunningham for his punch at the Wakefield player?
As both incidents were highlighted on the T.V. it will be interesting to see how the panel reacts.
If that had been us, bet there would have been a ban of some type !!!

I was saying last night if Cunningham doesn't at least get cited i won't be happy.
Perfectly happy with Demetriou's(sp?) one, imo.

Seems quite a serious injury, this must mean a long ban for Cunningham?

quite agree the demiettrio hand off was all it was, he did not lead with the elbow, was just wellens whinging coz he got put on his backside
As for cunningham blatant punch, but strewth from that position and angle if he got enough power bahind it to cause any damage he need to get a bout for a world title against khan

When i saw it firstly, it looked like a nothing punch, but if he caused that damage, must of been pretty powerful.

It's amazing just how many fans of different clubs are baying for our blood! His injury hasn't even been confirmed yet by the club, much less the cause of it or whether Cunningham actually did anything intentional.

If he's done something bad then he gets what he deserves. But so far all anyone has is a post on the Wakey board of a web forum! Even Wiki is more reliable!

Talking to Howells' last weekend, holding a wry smile said the games going soft in some quarters, it needs more biff.
Just compare it against the origin games - no contest, makes the spectacle sometimes and gets crowds going.
To be honest Cunninghams punch looked nothing, he still had the ball in his hand, the art is to be discreet and not blatant, with Sky cameras very hard to do.

We have biff in our game. Most people love watching it. Most times, players don't get injured but sometimes they do. Generally, the yellow card is used or nothing at all. Was Stosic winding Cunningham up in the tackle? I don't know; I didn't see the incident as I watched the match live, not on TV, and only saw the ball come out of the tackle and Stosic not getting up so quickly. I haven't watched the game back yet.

Cunningham didn't perform an illegal tackle. He did what lots of rugby league players do during matches. Whether this is considered in the same light by the RFL will remain to be seen.

However, if he does get a ban then you should tonk us this weekend as we have just added Roby (four weeks) and Lomax (possibly four to five weeks) and possibly Meli (hamstring) to our already impressive injury list (Long, Wheeler, Frodsham, Maurie) with the possibility that Flannery and Eastmond will still be out with the mumps. So you should be able to help secure your place in the play offs!

Nah. I'm all for giving Cunningham what he deserves if he's broken the rules. I just didn't see it so I don't know whether he has.

He has and should recieve a ban. I was impressed that so few of our supporters attempted to defend Howell's disgusting challenge up Tomkins - there were still a few dillusionals though.

Some people think that; others don't. I prefer to wait for the RFL to decide. I'll support whatever they decide.

I'd like to think I was brave enough to give Cunningham a piece of my mind if he does get a ban because we are so short of staff thanks to injuries, the last thing we need is a ban because he couldn't keep control. However, I'm no way brave enough to do that!

Unless our major injury problems magically cure then this is unlikely.

Including our young guys (who are our squad and who both play and back up when we have injuries) and assuming Kieron gets a ban, if no-one returns from injury by the weekend, we will have 11 players out. We will be struggling to put together a fit 17 (and I use the word 'fit' loosely as Graham is already playing with torn wrist ligaments, Wellens with a torn lip and Gidley with a heavily strapped thigh having probably returned from injury too soon).

Is our injury list better than yours, then?
