If your still going to Perpignan on July 17-20 this might be something for the Saturday morning.
The 'Domaine' is an excellent little place which produces a quality range - only using grapes from their own vines - produced by a Barnsley native, though trained as a winemaker in a top NZ wine house, in the Aspres area about 30-45 minutes rural bus ride outside town.
The tour will comprise of a tour of the owners vines, followed by a short tour of the wine making & bottling unit before a 'lecture' by owner/winemaker followed by sample tasting of 3/4 of his current wines.
Before you leave you will have the opportunity to buy - at ex celler prices which are 35%/40% cheaper than if you were to order from his UK retail stockist's......
The only suitable day is the Saturday morning - the local rural bus does not run on Sunday - leaving at 08.30hrs sharp & back by 13.55hrs. The owner makes a small per head charge for the tour. Will IM everyone interested with fully details and a link to the Domaine website. If a minimum 12/15 of you are interested one could perhaps hire a mini-bus from Perpignan town centre to the vineyard & back which would ensure a slightly later start and earlier return.
As iI need to give 'numbers' to the owners 7/10 days before please do let me know of your interest a.s.a.p. Think everyone will find the visit both instructive and enjoyable plus you should have a better understanding of the craft & skills - plus darn hardwork - that goes into growing & wine making at small family owned high quality domaine.
