If he developed enough to be considered a starting centre for Oz I'd be absolutely delighted for him and it would show other promising youngsters they can come to us and progress their careers further than had they stayed back home - encouraging more stars of the future to sign for us.

Has to be said that in a dismal game he looked head and shoulders above everyone else on Saturday. In attack he and Matt Gafa looked the most likely, and the chase down of Jordan James to deny a try when the game was well and truly won was a testament to his attitude.

When we first signed him he said that his ambition was to return to the NRL when the opportunity arose. The opportunity is still as far away now as it was then.

Thought he had a really good game on Saturday in what was hardly a classic - nothing surprising in him wanting to return to Oz really but it would be a shame to see him go given his current form. Would be a help to our quota situation?

I think everything he said was very reasonable. He's been a good player for us but I think he knows his chances of pushing out the present Centres let alone the ones on the up and up in OZ are pretty remote. He knows his efforts here are appreciated and he has a firm hold on his team position. I can't see him walking away now. IMO he will stay with Quins as long as he can as long as the £ are right.

Spoke to Hughesy on Sat who said that the Aussie teams had [icome calling [/ifor him this time- which in his words is unusual once they have gone.

Naturally keeping someone in demand raises the price.

It would be sad to see Dave leave, one of our best players this season, and last season imo.
Can't blame the guy for wanting to play internationally which he will probably only be able to do if he goes back to the NRL.

And Riddell allegedly.

But we wouldn't complain as much about that departure.

He's also much more in control this year. 6 penalties in half a season compared to 22 and 2 yellow cards over 2008 is a massive improvement.

As much as i like Howell as a player for us. A good centre he is in SL. He would be way down the pecking order for SoO or internationals in Oz.

Stay put Dave and be a big fish in a small pond.

Our best player this season, no more obvious than on Saturday. Not sure what's up with Gafa this year. He sees to be missing the short passing of Marty and Scott Hill near the line.

As much as I rate Howell as a centre in Super League, I don't think he'll be anywhere near good enough to hold down a regular spot at an NRL side.

Don't see any problem with what he has said there.

Gafa seems to have slowed down this year, lost some pace - not that he was the fastest, just does not seem to be popping up as he was.


Also, is it me or are we playing even flatter in attack than last year? May be that is the problem.

On Saturday against Celtic I don't think we stood any deeper than 3 to 4 metres at times - Celtics however where laid of at a good deep angle giving their scrum half time to dictate play.

Oh, and yeeeeeeesssssssssssssss we beat them but it is their defence in the 20 metre area that is letting them down - not their attack. they also seem to tire, the last 20 they looked shattered in the forwards.

How many did they rack up?

Have to agree, it was on the line.

Their big problem last week was indiscipline and errors, which may well be down to tiredness. We were getting piles of penalties in the second half, and they kept dropping the ball early in their sets. I can't imagine what the possession split was after half-time.

Helluva compliment. Aussies do watch our games and they must be impressed. He will be a big loss, if he goes. Slow starter but now our biggest attacking threat. He has been our most consistent player this year by miles.
