| The attendance today was shameful in the sense that the team deserve better. There can be no better argument to demonstrate the paucity of the clubs marketing strategy. They even seem to losing our hard fought for hard core. I know the weather was poor, the Celts did not bring many and the other distractions in London but the club will disappear up its own exhaust pipe at this rate. There is no point in building a winning side if the effort is not put in to build the crowds. I know this is a well tread path but no one seems to be listening. I know we have 'themed' matches coming up but we have got to grab the publics imagination and it is clearly not happening. I was hoping Mark Evans would climb aboard and rescue the image of the club, I cannot see how the game will catch fire in the capital if he does not.
THE TEAM DESERVES BETTER
Rant over, over to you Gutters.

| Although I didn't go today I often feel embarrassed for the players at the poor crowds. It can't be a lot of fun for them when they see what else is on offer elsewhere and I do worry the players will be drawn away too, to play for a "big club". Oh and thats not even taking into consideration the financial impact it has

Oh dear, 2300 is really pitiful and indeed the players deserve better
The club simply HAVE to do someone and it can no longer be acceptable to juts allow this to drift on and on
Fair play to those who go but something needs to be done very quickly to attract more people. We have been talking about this being the biggest issue for years and nothing at all seems to be happening
Its up to the club to take ther initiatve and not rely on fans finding out about the sport for themselves

| I know it's too late now, but i would of put some adverts in London football team's last match programme. "Need your Summer's Sport Fix?! Come and see the premier Rugby League team in the South". Would of probably added some on the gate.

| As for the 'core' support, the events of this week are just a continuation of events that seem to show the club for some reason is at best ambigious at worst determined to let it bleed away.

| Quite agree, the time for talking is over and something needs to be done. We are no longer standing still, we are going backwards.
The club, well the GM whose main role was to "get bums on seats" needs to actually do something. I'm sure he's doing 'something' but whatever it is it's not working.
Have we seen any marketing other than overpaying a kid to dance which brought in a few screaming girls that didn't return.

| There was supposed to be half price tickets for this game for those that came free to Wakefield, if if 100 had cam back it would have been a start but the offer didn't materialise. (A)Pathetic.

| As I was leaving Twickenham station on my way to the match I was collared by an Aussie asking directions to the ground and advice over tickets and where to sit etc. It turned out he was a Canberra Raiders fan over here for a couple of months and looking forward to seeing Dave Howell & Matt Gafa as well as the four ex-Canberra players in the Crusaders' squad.
He told me he'd tried to book a ticket online but the website wouldn't allow him to do so and had initially implied the match was sold out. I felt embarrassed as I told him the crowd would be around 3,000, but three sides of the ground would be shut and he'd only have a limited choice of where to sit. I directed him to the ticket office and told him to ask to look at the seating plan before choosing a seat at a suitable price and not to sit in the front five rows as the view would be $h1te. Hopefully his matchday experience wasn't too negative.

| A start would be sorting the name and colours out. How do you market a team that to any person not already acquainted with it looks like an exact facsimile of an existing one?
Can't believe the club hasn't moved on ths (beyond dropping Quins RL and 'adopting' the ever so catchy 'Harlequins Rugby League') and that more of you lot aren't up in arms about it.
I realise that my suggestion of Quins 13 isn't everyone's cup of tea (though people seemed to like the quartered vee shirts) but they need something to market and differentiate. Quins Pride? Quins Broncos? Quins something, surely?

Look on the bright side. He saved £6 but not being able to book online
Maybe the club made it sold out on purpose to save the embarrassment of charging the fee

| It does make you wonder about the future of the club , currently doing well in the league but progress will be hampered by the poor crowds and the subsequent low commercial incomes.

I may have missed it but where are we in terms of Ian Lenegan's investment.
Does there come a point where he has to have no financial interest under RFL rules and when is that ?

| RL in London doesn't work and i dont think it ever will, your attendance against the Crusaders was nothing short of embarrasing and something needs to be done and quickly to try and get bums on seats. I also agree that it must be awful for your top players to play infront of crowds so low

But it can be done, with some thought. Quins 13 does the job, similar but different.

| Are attendances down on last year? I suppose one of the main problems is that RL in London has been plugging away at it for the past 20 odd years and the same arguments have come up again and again, and the same old ideas have been tried over and over.
What the team needs is marketing muscle, and serious money with which to buy advertising in the London papers, on the tube, etc. But of course, where does the money come from? The RFL's attitude seems to be create local talent and let the game put down roots. A long term solution, and if it is effective, I think we will only see the results from it in 20 odd years (although of course, local talent is representing the team right now and it doesnt seem to be swelling the supporter ranks).
What I don't understand is the attitude of some fellow RL fans who come on here and complain (or shout things such as ' ground, no fans' at matches). If you loved the game, you would want to see a successful team in London. Newsflash- the majority of people in the country don't know or care where sh*t holes like Castleford and St Helens are. The only way the game will grow and raise it's profile is through expansion.
I don't know if the RFL already do this, but a seriously large amount of money needs to pumped into promoting the international game and teams like Celtic and Harlequins. The profile of Union is continually soaring. Most union fans I meet are no where near as prejudiced and spiteful towards are code as I am of theres. High-profile cross code games are needed, as well as the poaching of Union talent (of course, whilst there still young and inexpensive, e.g Brian Carney).
Well, my thoughts anyhow.

We didn't go yesterday - voting with the feet at the online booking sham and failure of quins rl to reply to my email about difficulties with the online booking.
Will be there for the Rhinos game, but I'll be booking my tickets from the Rhinos (only cost £1.50 online booking fee plus ticket cost and they respond to queries!) - not my first choice as would have preferred to sit in AC (so Mrs ER isn't too far from her fellow Quins supporters).
How many more games we'll bother with this season I'm not sure.
It's a real shame, because the product is good and the Stoop is a good ground in which to watch RL. The online booking system is good too - when it works.
The club need to sort quickly the basics of enabling people to part with money to watch a quality product.

IL pumped 600K of his own cash into the club this year under an existing agreement (which was for the past two years). He should no longer be the major share holder by the end of the season (before anyone says DH is the major shareholder he is Chairman, the two are not mutually inclusive IL still has 60% of the shares).
Unless of course things have changed in the background.
