| What an incredibly sloppy, indisciplined display. A win we scarcely deserved.
I thought Melling at full back was good, but the two wingers had shockers. Mat Gardner in particular was awful. Coughed up the ball whenever he had it, ran sideways on more than one occasion and generally looked out of his depth. Is Jon Wells injured? How he is kept out of the side by this clown I will never know. Will Sharp seems low on confidence.
Dorn got better as the game went on but Orr blatantly is not fit. Purdham the only other player on the park to emerge with any credit. I had assumed the team would be high on confidence after beating the reigning champions the week before, though clearly I should know better than to apply logic to Harlequins RL.
I feel a bit sorry for Salford, they didn't play badly and yet still came away with nothing. We played predictable, one-man rugby for at least 3/4 of the match and at points we were feeble. A better team than Salford would have taken us to the cleaners.
Still, a win is a win, eh?

| Salford have always been a problematic side for us.
After we hammered them up at the Willows there was always going to be a response.
To get the win and move up to 4th is good enough at this stage in the season.

| Disagree with your comments on Mat Gardner, i thought he had an ok game, the ball was stolen of him twice by Mark Henry, but was ajudged to be knocked on, Clubb had a good game, and was a very good try imo. The build up to Dorn's try was obviously a knock on, but the ref' hadn't given us much in the game anyway, so we deserved it . Howell had another good game imo aswell

| Didn't have to be very good to win, which was just as well. The error count was about 12-3, and Danny Orr only emerged to kick badly.
Reckon about 150-200 in our section in the West Stand. About 20 Cats fans came and at in front of us, but it didn't kick off.

| Thought it was a competent, workmanlike performance, even when Salford were ahead I didn't think we'd lose. Obligatory whinge from McRae at the end - the correct decision would have been a penalty to us for interference at the play-the-ball with a possible yellow card for a Salford player.

That's what I thought too (all of it). Maybe the ref played advantage in that play-the-ball? Salford player was Alker.

| IMO i think we were lucky to get away with the dropped ball. but overall i think there wasnt one Ref over whole MWE didnt miss something and it lead to a try.
Have to say was impressedcd with those two young lad at Salford, Myler and Ratchford. i know they all going on about Myler being the next big thin in RL,but i felt that the other kid had a good step and a great kicking game.
Over on the Salford forum they are worried that Offiah is Myler's agent and he's trying to do the dirty on them over this kid contract.
My big worry is he's Sharp, Clubb and a couple of other youngest at our club agents too(he is Sheriffe and Worrincys as well). One of them is Rob Thomas who i think Mac said he like to keep an eye (but might have that wrong so im sure i will be told )

| The fact is that we won a game that we hardly deserved to. Something "new" for us - we picked up two points playing badly.
We backed up our win at Leeds - something we have failed to do in the past. We are fifth in Super League. Yes, we were bloody lucky to win, but we did something that the best sides have done for years - won a match despite playing poorly.

| I think overall we deserved to win and I guess maybe the Leeds game took some energy out of them. Being positive like others on here backing up a big win with another win even playing below par is something we must do if we are to make the playoffs. The rubbish we have played against Hudds twice and HKR is still fresh in my mind so Im looking for another 'good' performance like the Leeds one before Im convinced we are playoff material. Wigan Wire and Catalans are all getting there act together now for a big push so we cant afford to hit a slump like Hull have had

| Pingu - I think you are normally a good poster but I disagree with you on this occassion. It was a real arm wrestle and we only had 3 props but I was there and never thought we would lose and having seen the recorded game can say the same. The only shame for me was that Clubb should have got MoM. Great try and try saving tackle - at least we would have had a cockernee accent being interviewed!

Offiah is going to cause some trouble in the future with his "agent" hat on mark my words. Im not happy about us losing Worrincey already. Everyone seems to forget we developed him already. Theres not the big money in RL like in Soccer but in Soccer it now seems anything goes as agents just let it be known that 'someone is available'. If RL clubs want a player with Offiah im damned sure the player will know about it before his current club has time to renegotiate his contract.
A big plus from the game was Kaye who was very competent when he relieved Randall. Never made a mistake as far as I could see. Howell is certainly jinking his way to the try line these days.
Pingu has a point about Gardner. He doesnt seem to get a good grip on the ball IMO though if Wells isnt ready Id give him another go. Dont want too much disruption. Its players being familier with each that gets this team home IMO.
Another good game by Golden.

And Salford will be all too familiar with Gardner's weaknesses after they released him last season. He seems to me to be an OK player except that he loses concentration from time to time. He's already had a few coaches who've failed to fix that and Big Mac hasn't yet either.

Pretty much my own thoughts. We weren't lucky to win, we did more than enough to win, although we're probably lucky our extra fixture was against such an ordinary side, and we saw again how difficult it is for mid-table teams to follow up one immense performance with another of similar standard the following week.
Clubb's try and saving tackle to deny Paul were the moments of the match for me, and I had a great view of both from the ower stand near the corner where they occurred.

I agree with you on those POD. Clubby is very strong and very quick for a big lad. Not many his size would have reached Paul. He is very determined to score when he gets near the line and Im surprised we dont have more moves where they get him on the end to charge over at close range. I think he was very quick to jump onto at least one loose ball to get Quins posession

| danny Ward knock on!!! could have been viewed a couple of ways, interference??? loose ball carry when he was standing up
rules state that the ball can be dropped on to the floor and played
but the thing to take away is play to the whistle!! which is what we did and good on the lads for that

| I thought we were a bit flat after Leeds but as others have said, solid and defensively very strong. agree about Myler etc really excellent and without him salford were nothing. As for the knock on, penalty to us. Also why wasnt a salford player sin-binned for tackling williamson without the ball?
him. unsure which of our other tries wasnt a try?
Howell, Clubb and Dorn were all first class. Temata and Ward and LMS worked hard. Agree about Orr, but both he and Gafa need game time.
we won, which was important and we never looked like losing, which is good for my heart!
Lets be happy - if we hadnt had abberations against Catalan and Wigan we would be on the same points as St Helens, i for one am happy with that
