| Was it just me, or did anyone else see the sun shine on saturday and see a firm pitch and think ... now let's finally see what Dorn has to offer?
On the dry pitch thought he had a complete nightmare of a game! Worst so far this season.
Agree/Disagree!?

| Best thing about Saturday was sitting in the sun! Brilliant day for footy.
Our halves are ordinary.
I've said before, Luke Dorn is average. He is not a playmaker. Too much of our attack revolves around our 9.

| Yep maybe I'm just harping back to the days when Dorn used to step up to the plate when Mclinden was injured. And did an OK job for us.
Maybe Brian Mc's tactics are diferent & don't involve Dorn in the same way as old?

You're wasting your time on here Beppe, Luke Dorn is our saviour and his ability must NOT be questioned. He is 100 times the player that Scott Hill was and he was exactly what we need.
I thought about starting a thread on his exact topic but knew there would be no point as the same old faces would come out desperately trying to defend his below par performances.

| I'm not sure Dorn deserves quite this much flak. He's not being given the opportunity to shine, clearly McDermott is handing the play-making responsibilities to Randall & Orr. The discussion should not be about Dorn's deficiencies, it should be whether this tactic is the correct one.

| I was in the "give him a chance" camp before the start of the season.
But that last performance was truly woeful.
Hopefully someone will come on and point out what he offers in the positive .... as I can't see it. I want to believe .. trust me!

Whats the point of having Dorn in the team at all? Why are we paying him money if we don't use him and he spends his games hanging around doing nothing in the centres?

| Yep don't see Dorn gelling at all in the team at the moment.
I can forgive the wild pass on the break because that's a question about our support play (could see that would have paid off for castleford last season), but I lost count of the number of times he offloaded to a clearly covered man and lost us yards on sat.
Agree it may be about tactics rather than Dorn's ability, but if he doesnt't gel with the tactics the big Mc wants to employ then what is the point having him!
Anyone at the castleford game got to offer an opinion as that seems to be the game where he's offered most this season?

I was at the Cas game and confirmed he offered little. To be honest though it wasn't the sort of game for him to be in the position to be once. Took his interception try well but otherwise quiet.

| Name me a single game in the history of Rugby League (or union for that matter) where a half back (6 ro 7 / 9 or 10) has won a game when the pack has been over run?
I am not defending Dorn or Orr or any other half back we or any team has had.

Our pack has only been over-run against 1 side this season, and thats including the Manly game.
I don't understand what you are trying to get at. If you are insinuating that forwards win matches then I agree entirely. But not sure why that is relevant in this discussion.

Not even talking about "winning" a game, talking about making some sort of positive contribution. You can always identify the stand out players even amongst a team performance.

Disagree with you pitch assessment. Pitch wasn't dry, it was obviously quite soft on top. Numerous players slipped.
It's an odd game to pick out to criticise Dorn. Most of the other 16 didn't show up too well either.
In the few Cas games I saw on TV last year he did operate as a playmaker, probably because they were missing Sherwin. And a good job he made of it.
(And no, I'm not comparing him with Scott Hill, just saying that he can be an effective playmaker if the game plan is structured that way.)

| Pitch seemed fairly dry when I walked on it after the match. Certainally a massive contrast to some of the tracks we've played on this season.

Twas as dry as it's been all season. Which is why I looked to Dorn to step up ... or are you saying his skills are better suited to the wet weather game!?
Not denying he stood up for Cas on occassion, just not seeing him slot in to the quins make up so far!

Hi Dave, can I call you Dave? Although I don't know you personally I feel that from reading your posts on this board that I have got to know you, and I can feel your hurt at the fact that Scott, dear Scott, the love of your life , left in such a shabby way at the end of last season, crushing all your hopes of a future together in pastels! And also I can feel your anger, and yes its only natural that you would want to last out at dear Scotty's replacement, but you know Dave , time is a great healer and I feel that if you would just give Luke a chance, what with the warm summer evenings just around the corner, and your feelings of disappointment and anger could turn into something like a grudging respect, maybe even admiration! I know Luke will never replace Scotty in your affections but Dave, you have to move on. All this bitterness and anger will do you no good. Dave I feel your pain, truly I do but please, for all our sakes let it go. Dave can you do that for me Dave? If you like I can be there every step of the way for you because I feel your pain!

Dorn Apologist Alert
Haha, the reference to Hill was purely for some posters on here who got very upset when I would ever compare him to Dorn.
Now they have clearly been proved to be wrong and I will be interested to see how far into the season they will admit it.

Nanyn? Near a first team match? In a crucial cup match? With his reputation?

I've seen a fair few in my time.
Just last week I saw a half back destroy any chance of winning in a dominant forward pack (Brett Finch @ Parramatta)
