Are these guys the best centre partnership we have ever had? Sure we have had some others who were possibly technically better: Chris McKenna and Nigel Roy come to mind but these two do a solid job and are always in the right spot for the try scoring opportunities.

Neither had big raps when they came but if they can stay fit they should share 30 tries between them this season. They typify this side, no big names but lots of big performances.

I think David Howell is (Another!) under rated quins player, he never seems to stand out and get man of the match, but he nver makes any errors and pipes up with tries and even the odd hat trick.

We should all know Gafa from last year, only played half the season before he unfortunately got his horrific injury, but still ended up our joint top try scorer.

Hope both of them continue to wear the harlequins rugby league shirt as long as they can.

Have to agree that these are two solid players who give 100% and give a lot to the team. Neither are 'stars' but both put in decent performances in week in week out.
Players like Gleeson will make the odd spectacular pass but be anonomous for many games. I prefer our guys myself.

Its all a matter of balance I guess as well. Get a big star centre like Gidley who IMO is the best and he costs a big chunk of your salary cap. He will create and score loads of tries but you have to lower the standard of player in other positions.
BM identified our weekness last season as being in defence and used the remaining money to plug that with Williamson and Robinson. So far Im happy that our defense is better so we have used our money wisely.

Have to agree with this.Also think because these two are playing well together that they bring out the best and give the room for Sharp to shine.

Defensively, Gafa isn't the best. He comes out of the line exposing ghis winger to often. And also, he doesn't seem to like passing to Melling that often, which he should do more often, imo

He let in a try against Wigoon by coming out of the line, leaving Danny Ward to try and plug a big hole.

Howell is class, have been saying that since his first game for us.

He's impressed me a lot more this season than last, maybe he settled in more, he wasn't exactly thrilled to be joining us when he first came.

He,s a tough blighter too..Not built like your typical RL player but does like a bit of a scrap....

I remember feeling happier to have Howell in the centres than our big name signing who disappeared to Biarritz, especially as said big season signing to play in the centres happened to be a winger.

I like Howell a lot. He can play in a variety of positions, is pretty sound defensively and not afraid to get stuck when needed.
