I've had a quote from an established Essex coach operator for a trip down & back to Perpignan - leaving Central London {SW1 on the Friday late afternoon and leaving Perpignan around mid-morning with the aim of being back in SW1 no later than 6am on Monday.

The unit is a 71 seater executive double decker touring coach [facilities include Air Con; Reclining seats; TV/DVD/Audio, cold/hot drink facilities; WC & good luggage capacity.

The all-in cost including Channel Tunnel Rail crossing, all Autoroute tolls & 2x drivers accommodation/meals plus one motorway pickup on the M20 near Maidstone for QRL Kent fans plus two Autoroute mealbreak-comfort-refuel stops plus coach to/from Cats stadium is around £97.50 if one fills the coach and £109.00 if only the minimum number [60 book.

Now you know the price would welcome everyone's comments & views. As I'm already booked to travel by PaddyAir and have been since January hope that someone will take on the project.

If it's helpful one could bundle in match tickets, Formula1 hotel - shared room [2/3 bed basis - for an all-up package. The only extra's will be food and 'beer/wine' in Perpignan & travel insurance [Engage offer a good deal !!

The base price to/from Perpignan July17-19 is today shown as £130 before booking fee and other extra's. Soon it will be £150, then £170 etc etc.......cheap? No way.

What is a 'no goer' coach.

All I'm doing is trying to get the cheapest 'travel' in these hard times and trying to get more fans down to the Catalan game. Last year the turn-out was the lowest ever! Only one 'heartland' club had less. Wonder who?

Sure I'm going and via GreedyAir but I booked back in Jan. It was £74 then with all extra's.

The main thing is if we can get the numbers confirmed with deposit etc quickly the coach price will hold. Wonder if our fans are even aware that the earlier you book the 'cheaper' it will be. If we are 'longtime' filling the unit - so unable to confirm - it will cost more.

Consider the numbers - estimated 50/60 - going to 'heartland' away games is poor. Might add very much less than used to 'away' when we were a Div2 side playing out of Crystal Palace - then we had nearly always a full 49 seater plus another 25/30 traveling by car, bus, rail and even hitching. Our crowds were then 500/700 with 50% season ticket holders!

Now we can only get 50/60 to most games from a regular fan base of perhaps around 2500. Sad, sad that our serious/loyal 'away support' is so so low....

Regret no, I'm due to have dinner with my youngest son following his return from his sixth tour in the Toro Boro Mountains - that's in the land of the Afgani!!

Anyway, this season plan only go to about two/three away games..... i.e. Celtics, Bulls and Grand Final - in Oz - plus 'natch' Les Catalan but should add I will always go down there......love the area, it's food, wine and people.

Will be at the Oxbridge game to-nite as always. Dark Blues to win!!

Its a coach not a prison cell.. all the mod cons supplied and endless videos of old matches (even some we won). Saying that I fancy the train..

Checked the train today and unless I am feckin up somewhere its an 8 hour journey. Think Stanstead awaits in July.

Trust me Windy - it is very civilised. By the time you have got to Stansted 2 hours before hand etc etc

Flew from Stanstead last year and a few beers in the bar awaiting flight is ok. But will go Friday instead of Saturday. If You can get a cheap trip on train maybe up for it if more than a couple go.
