I've just tried the Eurorail site and the 'cheapest' round trip for Friday out
Sunday back in 90 days time is

£189.00

It does not matter which route you go via Lille or Paris. Also note that you can not book Eurostar more than 90 days in advance.... that is based on return date. You can book 120 days in advance but only for TGV stage.

'Paddy Air' should be still cheaper but only if you travel with 'onboard' bag and get your 'boarding card' in advance. Tricky lot and they need watching!

I'm looking into the coat of a 71 seater delux double decker coach leaving late afternoon Friday and getting back early Monday am. Will post timings, cost etc asap. Then it's up to one of you to organise etc as I've booked by Paddy months ago - £76.

Methinks you can also get a group discount for 10 or more> I will enquire.

Recall posfing about group travel deals months ago but no one seemed interested.

As for ten+ discount do not think it will be that great, recall in the past we got a free return for tenth passenger - which at current prices will mean each person still paying over £170.

Regret that these days Eurostar/TGV work like the airlines - only a few really cheap 'loss' leaders and they then quickly start to creep up.

I've checked prices each and every way including reverse booking i.e. ordering one-way singles from Perpignan to no avail. You can get better prices traveling mid-week but that means 7 days hotel.

The 'cheapest' way is Eurostar to Paris and then 'nite' train down/back.

I've posted 'cost' of a coach package to/from Perpignan as an alternative which I think is still cheaper than eith Rail or Air.

As I get ill if I venture outside the M25, I may be shot down in flames, but could the club not look at including this in the next issue of Get In?
There are 8 home games between now and then and 19 odd weeks to go. Why not try to bundle accom and a match ticket into the deal and accept standing orders etc as payment. 4 months at £50 a month is better than £200 including Hotel!

My plan was to fly down to Barcelona in the week, spend a couple of days there, travel up to Perpignan, see the game and then make my way back through France, probably via Paris. early in the next week.

But if the supporters do sort out a group travel thing I would probabky be interested in it as I haven't booked anything yet

With so called 'negative' thinking by certain senior posters on this thread I wonder if my efforts are worth a damm at getting a base price for a coach.

No wonder this country is in the 'dog house' and having a 'hardtime'.

Seems that some fans have still loads of cash & time to 'waste' and are willing to travel by air or rail. Fine that is their right and choice.

What am trying to set-up is a low cost opportunity. But if you are all so cash rich this project is not for you. Would estimate that with shared rooms in a Formula1 type hotel & match ticket added a trip ex food & booze will be no more than £135.

Try and better that I challenge anyone........excluding those like me to have the know how to book travel way, way in advance and get a cost well under £100.....

Thanks for finding out prices by coach - not booked anything yet as I'm not sure we will go - been to all the other matches in France (including the friendly). I fancy the train if we can get fares around £100'ish. Not sure I would want to go by coach though....

I appreciate your efforts, but I went as far as Paris with my son's club last year and it was a miserable 10 hour journey with immigration queues and ferry delays thrown in. I couldn't face trogging down to Catalunya.
