Telephone conversations I have had with the club would point to them looking for a new home....a home they can call their own.
I can see the line of Investors and Bankers willing to give cash to the club to build a 15,000 seater stadium for the 890 season ticket holders and the club that needs 1.5 million a year hand outs to survive.......it's bigger than the Great Wall of China and can be seen from space



The club have less fans than ever before in ESL, no paying sponsors, a benefactor who is "offski" in a couple of years and not the slightest clue of what to do about it.

He then on paper spends up to the cap indicating that he is keeping to one side of any bargain, but is deliberatley refusing to fund anything else including a proven coach and marketing, in the gamble that the RFL cannot or will not allow the demise of a London club with all the implications that could have for the investment in the sport in future and any growth plans they may have.

Yeah...and Gus Mackay and Imogen Gaunt are happy to have their CV's destroyed by being party to the biggest and most rapid decline in fortunes in sporting club history.....

Marketing hyperbole kicking into overdrive again there ducks and wrong on sooooo many fronts.

Couple of pointers, CEO's CFO's CTO's etc walk away from REAL declines under their watches without a blemish, CV's are for noobs, networks are for real earners, try looking at the employment history of most of those connected to the banks during the sub prime crisis to see exactly how badly a real disaster affected their employment. Gus will always be employed, same as those you hate so much for their efforts in marketing the club in the past will be.

Biggest and most rapid decline? now that has to be the funniest thing you have ever written, and it has strong contenders. If this club folded tomorrow I doubt there would be many more column inches written in the majority of the mainstream press than there is now on match results, the likes of Stephen Jones would have a field day for maybe a week, you can't have it both ways, we are a club playing a sport alien to the majority of the population, not unlike the Monarchs or the Knights.......don't recall Madge getting calls for the flags to fly at half mast at their demise.

But look at the sponsorship invested in the East end of London with the amateur game and young people, we need a home that will be part of a community, one that is playing and knows the game of rugby league.

I can well believe that there are promises that the RFL haven't fullfilled - the move from Chiswick to Crystal Palce was partly based on the RFL promising to do work on publicity including using the 1990 'Roos, something that (suprise, suprise) never happened due to 'budgetary problems'. Yeah, right

Well gutterfax, that is Your opinion, I feel we need to be in an area where the game of rugby league is being played in schools, amateur teams and clubs both youth level and open age, that way you can build upwards and sell the club as part of the community, the ground has to be then part of that community seven days a week, I would in a stadium we own consider a pitch like Widnes, so it can be used by the community and all our teams so they are in the area all the time.

1. RL is played by schools and by amateur clubs in West London......
2. The club has been in West London since 2002.......but has failed to engage fully with these clubs and schools...why would it be different in East London?
3.Own Pitch? Shit me a few of those million pound notes whilst you're at it.....a stadium of our own....

we are losing millions a year, have 890 ST holders and an ever decreasing fan base....let's spend 15 million on a white elephant.
4. Community......you make it sound like a scene from the sound of music with kids dancing in the fields.....the cold hard reality is it is a pipe dream. Community takes years and a shed load of hard work to achieve.....
5. In your eastern utopia, would there be any form of marketing to announce the presense of the team or would the RFL pixies do that for you



Sorry if I sound sceptical, but moving again is just too easy an option....why not try this community thing where we are first?

The nearest high schools to the stoop have RL on their PE curriculum while the Elmbridge Eagles are national champions

so why moving areas makes people think it would work now is beyond me.

Are you 100% certain that our landlords want us to remain and that we can negotiate a contract to remain at the ground which is acceptable, I do not know all the facts, if you do then please share the terms being discussed?

How do we ever build a community in any stadium that we use around once ever two weeks during the season?

being kicked out and choosing to leave are two completely different scenarios and if we are being kicked out we should be making a stink about it.

What was an ENORMOUS missed opportunity was, for four-odd years as Harlequins RL, the headteacher of the neighbouring Richmond College - with its 5k students - was a huge RL and Warrington Wolves fan.

Why would they want to cut off a revenue stream that, if the 30k a game figure that is claimed is right, then there's nearly 400k a year they'd lose for very little disruption?

Simple! because we are not happy with the fees and they are not willing to compromise, if that figure is accurate then Liverpool and Everton have had a field day the fees they paid for their reserves at rugby grounds and they most likely attracted larger attendances then we do.

But long term it is just having our own ground! we gain no benefits from using the ground.

Sounds steep if it's true. Manly pay around $400,000 p.a. to play at Brookvale and that'd be not just for first grade, but for when NSW Cup and the juniors play there separately at different weekends as well as first grade.

Probably more if you convert into pounds and add a retainer fee on top of match day fees. RFU rip off me thinks given what we are likely to pay at on the road grounds.

DH said last year that we were paying £200,000 pa for The Stoop...when Paul Blanchard was CEO he said the rent was very reasonable.

Doubt that Quins would want rid of us while we are keeping our noses clean, so to speak. £200,000 buys them another player and its unlikely they would get involved with another Union club (there was an unhappy alliance with the Not-nots a while back).

Talk of us getting our own stadium is complete pie-in-the-sky...it ain't going to happen anytime soon.
