Are you joking? The article says that the players can't get food at Underhill so walk to the local butty shop to get a feed.
The Foundation, may it rest in peace, was the biggest provider of curricular and extra-curricular sports in Richmond, Kingston and north Surrey and second only to the Football League Trust-funded Brentford FC in Hounslow. The schools programme was the biggest outside West Yorkshire, the staff and the programmes won numerous awards and the results of the schools and community club system fed through into the academy which a load of local kids play Super League. Every school in the London Borough of Richmond played Rugby League. They coached RL to about 40k kids a year, ran women & girls programmes, learning difficulties, young offenders, holiday camps and got the first southern winners of a national Rugby League schools competition.
(They also had data on and routes into all these people, passed on to the club who then did absolutely nothing about getting them to games as paying customers as Gus didn't believe in it).
The article you linked to says that some players bought some sandwiches and were asked who they were. How on earth are you comparing the two? What was disbanded in West London will take 5-10 years to rebuild in Barnet. That's a lot of buying sandwiches.

Are YOU joking? Of course they''re not comparable. This is nothing to do with foundation visits or setting up school visits. This is merely talking about the players mingling with the public, not on designated school visits but your average joe on the street who couldn't give a rats about RL. It's all Arsenal,Spurs, Chelsea,Watford,Barnet and QPR around North West London. So to see a set of pro players go for the average butty, is the tiniest of indications that the players are getting out there WHILST the foundation is being set up. Jheeze, we need to think forward, not constantly sniping at every opportunity.

| OK. I thought you were in some way suggesting that we had a new and effective community development programme rather than just talking about player appearances.
I still, however, fail to share your optimism around how players buying a butty in the high street constitutes 'getting out there'. God forbid their wives might start to make their sandwiches. We'd be back to being invisible.

| Lol, hopefully the Foundation will be back up and running before the Wives find out,ha.
But yeh, I see what you mean. It is an emotive subject, especially when redundancies are made, and I have no right in trying to understand that, as I can't even imagine the pain. It's examples like that which do make me question the administration's budgeting/deals to get people in as we didn't create enough of a buzz before perhaps,
However, with TK on board, hopefully we will get some good advisors on board. The only way is up.

interesting stat about the 40,000 students who were the recipients of rugby league lessons.

1. Was this during pe lessons or after school?
2. Of those 40,000 did any ever play for the broncos or play in super league?

So you would expect to see a burgeoning junior rugby league scene in SW London ? Do you think this is the case ?

AK has been paid to take us in....the RFL have loaned him a staff member who is currently looking after all things on-line and getting us in the local media, the RFL have also emailed their database on our behalf.
All AK has done is rent us some office space and sell about 200 fans some memberships to his venue.....he is not "on board". His standing up at a forum and telling 50 fans that he's excited and eager is and wind until he starts to spend some time an money on the club....

| If we had ceased to exist then it would have been entirely down to the ineptitude of the management. Yet you want to celebrate the fact that a championship level team and setup has emerged from the wreckage. To cap it all the same goons are still running the show.

| Ofcourse it would have been due to ineptitude. But there is no point in dwelling on mistakes and the past. It is about learning and moving productively forward. Constant criticism and whining and moaning will not acheive anything but bring morale down and a negative, posinous atmosphere. We don't need it. We get enough of that from other fans.
It the idea is to get the administration out, then why not do something productive and set up a petition.
If it came down to having a glimmer of a chance with a Championship squad as opposed to zero chance, I will always take the glimmer and support the lads. Any Given Sunday (or Saturday or Thursday and Friday for that matter).
I will celebrate that to the hills. Come On You Broncos!

1. Mixture of both, but given your badly hidden agenda, I am sure you don't care either way. The fact that you'll ignore is that 40,000 kids were exposed to the game.
2. Not sure about the use of drugs in Leeds with regards to the development of youth, but given the Harlequins RL work started in 2006, expecting a SL player to pop out at the far end inside 6 years is asking a bit much. We have had a couple of kids come through the pathway offered by having a team in SL down here.....one'sust signed a contact extension at St Helens whilst the other is on the Books at Wigan and has scored 4 tries for his country at senior level in a COMPETATIVE game. I seem to remember it was hard-on central when little Sammy T scored 4 against a poor France in a mid season friendly.....but I am sure your agenda doesn't allow for such stats.
3. I don't, but given that there are approximately 800% MORE RL Teams in the Region compared to pre-SL and a London SL team, I am sure one or 2 picked it up.
Now, before you scuttle off to think of some witty riposte to the facts above, here's another couple of tit-bits for you to digest.
1. Your Coach (the guy that's won a couple of SL's for you) reckons that London offers a massive future to RL if only the game in general would embrace and nurture it. Short termists, like yourself, expect too much too soon and are happy to point to terrible crowds as "proof it's not working" when in fact, up until it was butchered at the end of last year, it was working.
2. If further proof that it was working were needed, can I suggest you google "Howard of Effingham School win at Wembley"......I mean to say, if a Surrey School can win a national title that is that important it is played as a warm up to the 2nd biggest game in the domestic season, surely the growth of the game should be encouraged down in the south rather than binned so another pit village team can stumble along with 5k crowds and eventually go tits up?
Thanks for popping in ![SUBMISSION c020.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//c020.gif)

The fact that people who were not only good at their jobs but were also passionate about what they were doing were cast aside to make way for the "husk" of an entity that is left is bad enough, but the added bitterness this attracts comes from the w4nker who caused the problem not only continuing to steal a wage, but also managing to unload any semblance of responsibility, past, present or future onto someone else.
As for the mistakes that have been made in the past.
You saying that the club have learnt from them doesn't actually mean that the club have actually learnt from them. The same as 2 players buying sandwiches isn't community work, or that posting on facebook isn't cutting edge marketing.
I'll reserve judgement on this brave new dawn off the pitch until we see how many fans they can attract to the first few games......as for on the pitch, I think that the hammering by Widnes may well turn out to be one of the teams "highlights" this year....I can see us shipping 100 points in a game and I pray to god that if it happens, it happens away from home!

| I think after 30 odd years watching, playing and coaching in the capital I am entitled to snipe. London Broncos is in real danger of not being my team any more.
Do you get your happy pills on the nhs or from a dodgy man in a dark alley? Either way I wouldn't mind giving them a go if I could become as delusional as you.
Good luck on Saturday, I will be delighted to eat my words when Salford are beaten by London.

| See, I knew you still love the club. There is a fine line between love and hate. It seems like we have both extremes on this board. You're no more qualified than a johnny come lately regards to sniping. Everyone has a right to express their feelings and if you feel bitter and angered, then so be it.
I on the other hand am the opposite. It's like when we play Rugby. There is always one lad on the team who moans about a dropped pass/missed pass which permeates amongst the whole team. Yet we tend to shut him up and tell him to think about the positive parts of the game and WORK on the negatives in practice. A positive outlook is always better, so it means win, lose or draw we will always learn
.....Granted it has been a 30 year project rer:RL in London...but who is to say this may be the one.....The only way to find out is to get behind it than shoot it down in flames...and even if there are a whooping, bad results, that is when the team need our support. We CAN do this. See you at The Hive Euclid one day for a beer pal.

That's fine, dwell all you want. Whilst at the same hand there will be people not willing to agree with the negativity and misery.
If you want to be productive, then set up a petition if you want the administration out. Right now, we are not privvy to stats from the club so will back the club, as that is the only thing we can control at the moment.
Obviously there is bitterness but we cannot expect to progress further it we don't let go of the negative and cling on to the positives of the now and future.
Ofcourse the code to breaking the RL market in London is not done from a sandwich outing or a facebook post, but yknow what, considering we had zero contact or any knowledge of players, we are gonig in the right direction. But keep using the keywords of 'sandwich buying' and 'facebook postings' to give it some ridiculing gravitas on a message board.
Good to hear your good wishes about the club to get some fans in. You could be so much part of the club if you let go of the bitterness and use your nous for positive. Hopefully one day you'll have a change of heart and watch a game at The Hive.
