| It would be a nice twist to unveil the shirt with a new signing modelling it.
I think this takeover has bigger repercussions for the game of rugby league than just London being taken over. I think it points towards the NRL buyout/heist/takeover happening as I don’t think so many would be as keen on being involved with London as they seemingly are. I think it’s much needed and a long time coming. That’s massive news for the sport and the whole make up of the game will be decided eventually. I think that also links into Hetherington’s “London could in Super League next year” and suggests the takeover is happening relatively imminently.
As for London, do the club need a renaming? Do the club need new colours and a new identity and who is going to be consulted on that, as I think fan consultation is vital. While the band of Broncos may be small, I think the opinion of those long-term season ticket holders and members is vital. While an agency will have ideas, I do think it does need to be done in conjunction with fans and that fans may even have ideas that this agency may not have considered. Personally, I hope it’s bold and almost brash. Not quite as tacky as Leigh’s rebrand but I do hope the club look to create its own identity and does away with things like having a V on a shirt because that’s what happens in rugby league.
Wimbledon is a positive. I think it’s probably one of the better venues that has been a Broncos home venue, with the space for fan zones, eateries and its in a nice area with some decent options nearby for food and drink.
The academy is a big one. That needs to be back. You look at the makeup of the squad and it’s heavily London based. Nobody disgraced themselves in Super League and you look at what some have done elsewhere in KPP, Clubb, LMS, McMeeken and Sarginson to name a few and there are some very good athletes around.

| As I said earlier being at my father in law’s funeral on Wednesday meant I couldn’t watch the announcement/ presentation at the time, so I’ve slowly been picking up with various video clips and articles.
Leaving all the marketing speak and buzzwords aside ( let’s face it we’ve heard it several relaunches before) it does seem to be that there’s a definite plan and that it not only involves the Broncos but women’s rugby league, community clubs, wheelchair RL etc…. which I hope will be a good thing.
While I couldn’t see any cold hard financial figures I feel that there are a number of positives. Firstly there’s a plan, certainly a medium term one - and not just for our club. And if someone like Gary Hetherington can’t pull this off then I don’t think anyone can. I’m pleased he’s on board. The academy will be reinstated- massive plus. We will continue to be based at Wimbledon- would be even better if the ground had an all weather surface so we don’t have to vacate for 10-12 weeks, but to have a stable home is still a big plus. And also how GH has spoke of bringing back fans who have stopped attending- long overdue, Hughes was presumably too stubborn to do this!
As for a rebrand/ rename/ new colours I don’t see that it’s necessary, particularly not if we end up with simply one name like Dolphins in Oz, with nothing to link it to London. We’ve had it before so for me it’s a big no thanks.
I might be well out of step with some on here but I never thought London Broncos name or colours were the problem- just the previous owner and some of the people who worked for him !
Anyway those are my thoughts for what it’s worth.

Deffo agree about the academy. Great news and can only be in the interests of UK rugby league. I'm genuinely not bothered about losing the Broncos as a name. It can make it hard to explain who we are- I remember a colleague telling me he liked American Football on the telly top when he glanced at the website. I think it doesn't help us sell it or even explain what RL is. I'm not that pleased with the amount of stuff that just says rugby on it either on recent communication and our website either. I'd be happy with something basic like London Rugby League as the team name. Agreed we need to keep the V on the shirt and I think the Fulham adaptation we currently have look quite good.

Looks like it's going to be a white jersey with a black chevron outlined in red. The members' name are written in white within the black chevron.
I well remember our first White with red & black chevron away shirt, maybe late 80s. By the time they finished using it, the shirt had become grey with red & black chevron. Like the 3rd shirt though.

I think you need to have a name. If Broncos sounds like an NFL team (I'm not sure it does personally because the NFL is massive here these days and many have a knowledge of clubs and the NFL Europe has been dead some years), you're writing off 32 potential names, the 30-odd already in use within rugby league and any others with copyrighting issues. Does London Rugby League not sound like a competition rather than an actual club?

| It does if you say London Rugby League, less so if you say London RLFC.

| Now that AFC have been promoted to League 1, be interesting to see if that has further implications for our access to the ground in the summer. But, well done to them.

| I dont like the name Broncos much but I think it is our name now so I wouldn’t change it. If we change to London RLFC I could understand but it’s a bit bland and would need a good logo. If something else unless it’s specifically related to an Aussie parent club, and Dolphins as a name holds zero attraction, then it would need some out of the box thinking because I just can’t see replacing Broncos with Lions or whatever makes any sense. For every person who thinks the animal we’ve chosen sounds better than Broncos then someone will disagree.

| I've had on my fridge since the mid 90s a Broncos magnet. It's a shield with red & white quarters, across the top in black on gold is the word LONDON & at the bottom on a gold ribbon is RLFC. There is also the original gold Broncos head on the shield. That would do for me, I've been trying for ages to include a picture of it but either this site isn't working or I'm too stupid to achieve that. Ho hum.

| why not London Rugby Lessons?
Carlsberg don't do irony.....but if they did....
For those that believe the handful of remaining fans need consulting, you are dreaming. The "core" or as I refer to them, Monkeys Monkey's are the problem.......not one (OK...maybe a couple, eh speechless) stepped up when the club asked for volunteers. If it happens, it needs to involve a hard launch...stickers on Taxis and oyster card wallets wont do it....but a Guy Ritchie type fly on the wall docu-series might......MIGHT get a bit of traction.

| However well intentioned the previous administration was, they failed at marketing the club. It was too small time. For London Rugby League to be a success, the marketing needs to go big.

Agreed but it’s really expensive and you have to keep doing. One ad in the Metro won’t work. In fairness to DH et Al they gave it a spin for the start of the Coleman era, but to my untrained eye, got it all wrong and then, of course, those that turned up were treated to a very, very poor side so opportunity missed. Lots of those avenues to promote things, like local newspapers or indeed the Metro either don’t exist or have much less significance. I think they have to find a way to engage locally, wherever it’s decided local is. Tooting/Merton/Wimbledon. To me they all seem to be different have different make ups and thus different challenges. One bright note is AFC do seem to have tapped into the local area. I see no evidence of it as I walk to ground from Tooting but they do seem to get decent numbers for a L1 side. May of course be that football is much more dominant now but my recollection was they were minnows back in the day so they’ve done something right. Maybe we could learn.
