My first match of the season and to be honest it was not as bad as I had braced myself for. Didn't look like there was any effort missing just confidence and sometimes a bit of luck.
Was suprised to hear the 'supporters' booing after 90 secinds when a try was scored against us. While I am sure its been frustrating I am not really sure how people think that will help
Only made one game last season as well which was Leeds at home so a 100% record in the last 2 years

Bollox....I was content to let some fans stew in their own sense of wellbeing after the win today....the clubs #1 apologist was the one who dragged me into this thread.....don't blame me for biting when the bait is laid out in the open.
Good win and it means that we should keep the club record of never finishing bottom of Superleague by finishing second bottom.........not a bad result for spending the cap and rebranding

| It amazes me that some are drinking in the heady heights of beating a Widnes team who have struggled away all season, and we have the majority of the play yet have to rely on a last gasp effort to win. One wonders is this the last breath of the club before we die? Not a pretty sight but hey our season has now started. Off to the pub to celebrate and can't wait until the next match at Fartown.

| For what it's worth...
As usual thought we were pretty poor today, too many mistakes, especially at ptb which is unforgivable imo, too much cluelessness in attack for all the ball we had, and I am surprised at all the comments about the effort from the side when it seemed pretty obvious to me that Widnes wanted that game more- we may have put in a bit more effort than in recent weeks on account of being back at home at the stoop, but the completely despondent looks on the Widnes players' faces at the end and the jubilation with which they celebrated their scores told the story; there was a level of passion from them that I don't think we've seen from most of our side this season.
Bottom line- we beat a side that are almost as bad as we are away from home, is that anything to really get excited about? Am grateful to have witnessed the win but fear it will be the last of our season...

| Last time Widnes played away at London Broncos we won 68-10 and they have not had an away win in Super League since they beat Leigh Centurions seven seasons ago in June 2005.
I felt that the first half should have seen us convincingly in front with both position and possession heavily in our favour and yet the poor coaching meant that even with six plays in the oppositions ten metres we looked unlikely to score. Craig Gower was meritorious in the first half but few others looked a class apart from the Vikings.
The second half made the Broncos look like the fourteen point underdog and it all looked ominous with Widnes missing a host of chances to finish us off with missed penalties and sheer incompetence from Ah Van. With Rodney hitting the post with an easy chance it looked game over and the win in the last second papered over the cracks.
It was like the win at Batley - you felt that we stole a win somehow but it was gratefully received.

For this team to dig itself out of the hole it has found it is in, it needs to celebrate each bit of good news, every scratchy win, so that a bit of confidence can return, and a formula for success can be found. You need to first find the light at the end of the tunnel, before you can get out of it.
To get off the bottom of the league, we need to be second bottom. Then we need to be third bottom, and so on. Bit by bit, a few steps forward.
If we can't even enjoy our wins, then my goodness me.

| Well done on getting the win chaps, but the 2 points in itself changes little. That was two very poor sides out on the park.
Honourable mentions go to Rinaldi, who had his best game of the season, and Bryant, who put a good shift in and broke the line a couple of times. Hicks made his usual retinue of baffling decisions. But we have so few ideas with ball in hand it is embarrassing, we play a hugely conservative and predictable style of rugby. It is not a surprise half decent sides can keep us down to one and two tries - they don't expect us to do anything expansive.

Totally agree. The current situation must be hard for the long time supporters but a team low in confidence are hardly likely to be playing flowing rugby . Even a desperate win like yesterday's is a small step on the long road to recovery.
Only my second game - first at the Stoop - and i thoroughly enjoyed it, except for the battery acid that is passed off as IPA at an eye watering price !

One thing Broncos have done this season is score tries - more than two in these games:
v Catalan 22 pts
v Skolars 42
v Sain Tellens 24
v Hull 14
v Giants 16
v Cas 42
v Pie Eaters 30
v Widnes 30
v Wakey 36
v Dragons 18
v Dewsbury 72
v HKR 16
v Bulls 22
v Giants 14
v Widnes 28
Defence, especially on the wings, have been a bigger issue.

| Thought both sides were pretty poor yesterday, but of course its good to see a win.
Pleased for Rinaldi I thought he played well. Was just waiting for him to be replaced by Chad
bearing in mind how well he was playing though thankfully he was kept on.
Re the clock stopping we were talking to a couple of Widnes fans on the way back to Waterloo
and they were convinced time was up before Antonio crashed over. Probably Bett`s view by the
sound of it.

Missed a simple 1 on 1 for the first try and missed a 1 on 1 for the first try of the second half.
That said he was our best player, at least he went at them with the ball.

| The match was a poor spectacle but a win all the same.
The frustration for me was the wasted ball in there red zone. Knock ons at the play the balls etc
The other frustration was how we dont set up to attack and stack a side. The ball went to O'C on several occasions with 20 - 30 metres outside of him and we ran out of players.
