Wakefield and Castleford remain in limbo as they bid to push on with their own individual projects amid council calls for a more viable groundshare option. Fans of [size=150Harlequins, who continue to struggle for crowds[/size, and Crusaders will not be resting easy either.

I hate this whole system. Neither Wakefield or Castleford deserve to be booted out, and kicking us out is only suggested by the ignorant.

I reckon last minute the RFL will bottle it and go to 15 or 16 clubs. Then really tighten the franchise process so that every 3 years one will go only if a sensational franchise is forthcoming from some wealthy backed club.

Without the continued financial support of their sugar daddies most professional sports clubs of whatever sport wouldn't be in existance. My own football club has "loans" of £8million from the owner. And were still ing about in League 1 this coming season.

Dave, it wouldn't be such a big deal if it was relegation. Some teams will NEVER get to compete at the highest level, at least Quins will always be in Super League, because it's London RLFC. I imagine Wakefield/Cas/Salford will se this as a potential 'death knell', but everyone apart from Widnes (in the championship divisions) it's just an ongoing situation.
You have to be a realist, and accept Sky Super League is about expansion. That's just the way it is. See you guys in 2036 ?

It's very depressing, but Quins really don't deserve to be in Super League.

If we do remain then something has to be done with marketing the game effectively and if that means that the RFL funds this, then it has to be done as it's wrong that a London based team cannot get a full house when the Union side does most every week, although in the old days they'd be lucky to get 1000 turn up - how times have changed

Marketed properly and with real enthusiasm plus a few risks Quins could get the gates.
Everything else would fall into place.

We get around 8,000 per game would be more if away fans actually travelled in numbers like both Hull clubs do . Another bug bear of mine is the money we generate for other clubs sometimes taking between 1500-2000 away fans .

As for the Aussies bankrupting us we are signing Blake Green & have put in an offer for Willie Mason so make of that what you will , you shouldn't be in SL your attendance & performance is shocking and your away support is non existent.

What do Harlequins bring to SL ?. out of interest what is your average attendance ? Do you think you are a competitive side , lets see what the attendance is on Friday when you play Crusaders, how many of your fans will turn up.

What is with your obsession with attendances? How does the number of people turning up at our games affect anyone?

I'm not obsessed with attendances Dave but of course the attendances affect the club in revenue, and if people don't turn up you have no atmosphere .

Wakefield's average attendance this season is 6018. They have been playing at their current location for 131 years. That is 46 supporters for each year of their existence. I think we are doing alright at around the 800 mark.

I could explain to you that the club is losing 1.5 million a year (30k a week) and this is being swallowed by our benefactor. I could then go on to explain that we have a very british team in SL, the most british actually and we no longer have special treatment from the RFL with regard to overseas players, or even having a temporary stand errected at one end of our ground. I could probably ask you for proof that the RFL (who publish their accounts the same way we do) are giving us money, but what would be the point.
As for your wonderful graph which you essentially copied from the stats site and probably hosted on your facebook page...I have an even better table if you'd like to look at it. It shows all the crowds for London RL since 2000.....the seasons averages and lists them in the order of which team is the biggest draw. It highlights that we have terrible crowds and therefore should give you a hard on, as that seems to be the only criteria you're concerned about with regard to another club



Furthermore, I would like to applaud you for having the good sense to attack another clubs franchise worthiness after only just joining these forums. It often takes a few months to get to grips with the moods on these boards, but your keyboard prowess after only a dozen or so posts shows that you are a person with intelligence....or you just created another name to go trolling?

I think the league should be expanded anyway. Get Toulouse and Widnes in. Look at a team in Dublin and a second London club.

Championship clubs will not be put up against SL clubs, one club is guaranteed to be successful and will be told March 2011 haing applied against a deadline of december 2010. SL clubs applications will have to be submitted by April 2011 and they will be told July 2011

I didn't say they would be. The Championship clubs have to meet the first five criteria and whoever does will then be judged against the second set. The club scoring best on that set will then get a spot in SL.

But its not the case that Championship clubs won't be "put up" with Super League clubs. There is the separate selection for the one Championship club franchise, but any club not successful in this has the right then to apply for a franchise in the main selection process.

Although I'm a Cas fan I hope it's not Quins because I admire the way the club have knuckled down to help build something bigger, more sustainable for RL in London/SE than a quick-fix SL product. That said it is irksome to think anyone would replace us by virtue of more modern facilities which is the criterion that proves how truly soul-less and superficial our game has become at the top level...even mega-corporate soccer draws the line at such an artificial measure of worth/potential.

I wasn't going to name a personal favourite for exclusion because of the pain that fate will cause wherever it happens but the depth and extent will obviously be infinitely less for an embryonic club. So unless Crusaders are playing everygame in S Wales and not lodging on the fringe of the heartland I feel the risk of retaining them at the expense of a club like Cas in an area which epitomises the sport and produces so many great players is too great. If Cas are kicked out the marker is down for all smalltown clubs, SL will look very much like the suits always envisaged and it may only change for SKY inspired expansion purposes.
