do you actually watch games or just allow your prejudice to determine your thinking irrespective of what you see? Did you watch dorn on Sunday? Or Heckenberg?

| Quote ="Chris Brown"Might be a bit unfair PP
He did play 25 SL games in 2008 which is pretty good for a Prop. In 2009 he missed the first 3 rounds, played the next 5 and then missed 2
So all in all has missed 7 games in the last 40 games played by Wakefield

If history repeats itself, he'd agree to join us then sign for Wigan instead.

| Sculthorpes offloading game is an attraction, but I'm not sure he's a team player and that's what I think is making us a better side this year.

Eh? You accuse me of having a prejudice to determine what I'm thinking irrespective of what I see, yet what has Luke Dorn actually done all season? Some people are still desperate to praise him because he's a nice bloke and has been around for quite a few years. On Sunday he did nothing, as usual. I don't recall a standout performance all season. I'm not the only person that thinks this either but no doubt you'll get on my back because I had the nerve of suggesting that he might not be good enough for us in the first place.
At least he doesn't make any errors but he is adding nothing to our team.
Heckenberg's injury problems have been well documented and we can't afford to keep hold of a player who is missing matches on a regular basis. Nothing to do with his performances as he is certainally part of our first choice front row.

Apart from the tries he's got (including another one on Sunday) what has Luke Dorn ever done for us?? (apologies to Monty Python's Life of Brian!)

Priceless.
You've pointed out why nobody was that concerned when he left us the last time.
At the start of the season, people were crowing "oh he's so much more than just a support player and a try scorer". It was like the messiah had arrived. He's scored 8 tries - wow! You don't mind that he creates very little in attack, has a woeful kicking game and generally spends his game hiding and panicing?

Sorry mate, putting in Dorn comment like that - bit of a light the blue touchpaper and stand well back moment! But I couldn't resist!

| Luke dorn = Poacher and support runner/player, but not playmaker.
Didn't Big Mac say at the forum that a certain Curtis Melling was a playmaker??? Maybe the solution is already at the club, but I know Dorn isn't it.
Still, 8 tries is a fair return (3/4 every game) and better than his results in 2006 before he went to Salford to win trophies

Once from a Melling pass after gathering a Dorn kick and once from a Dorn offload following a Randall kick.

I don't see too many 6's with a worse kicking game. 9 assists means nothing either.

A dummy runner leads to a try. Doesn't mean it is recorded as an assist. If Orr puts Dorn into a nice gap and Dorn offloads to Melling in support, who gets the assist? The statistic is irrelevent in RL. Much more complicated than simply passing the ball to the scorer. Further, imagine Orr chips over and Howell collects, flicks it inside to Dorn, who gives it to Sharp who scores. I'll let you think about the rest...

| Not irrelevant, which is why the top 12 assisters are all in the halves. Just another measure.

| Wasn't Heckenberg on the Scottish train-on squad for the WC?
IIRC, how come he is still on the quota?

Because he's "overseas trained". It is illegal to have quotas that discriminate against EU nationals or nationals of certain countries outside the EU i.e. those referred to as Kolpak players after the Kolpak ruling. Heckenberg, like Gafa, and like a tonne of other antipodeans hold joint nationality with an EU country (Heckenberg is a UK national, Gafa is a Maltese national).
However, a sneaky way to try and get around this is to base quotas on the development system players came through, so you can be “club trained”, “federation trained” (i.e. trained at a club with same national governing body) or you can be “overseas trained”. Although there are still some fiddles and fudges around this, or Martin Gleeson would be “overseas trained” along with the Henderson brothers despite all being born in Britain.
