| Such a shame given he is one personality of the recent modern game that London fans can probably relate to most of all.
No surprise who adorned most of the 1992 WC tube advertisements I spoke about elsewhere.

What's more of a shame is the point made in that article that he is still the most recognisable RL player to non-RL fans. Says much about the lack of marketing of our game in general.

I don't relate to Offiah at all. I think he's a liability for the sport as a whole. He was a great athlete, but a poor footballer. Dwain Chambers could have been just as good had he been captured at an earlier age.
The first SL match I saw was Broncos v Wigan at The Stoop in 1996 or 1997. The only two players in the Broncos side I'd heard of were Offiah and Shaun Edwards. I had no real knowledge of the sport. Edwards was brilliant, a genius footballer; Offiah was pathetic. In fact he was probably the poorest player on the field.
I also dislike the way Offiah seems to agitate our young players to leave our club in his capacity as an agent. He comes across as the archetypal "Mr Ten Percent" - an unwelcome parasite.

| Should we ask Boris to set up an Offiah-free zone?

| As for Offiah not being a great player, you are kidding.
lol
As an Australian, we actually feared him - unlike Edwards who never had a decent game against Australia in his life. The greatest contribution Edwards ever made against Australia in Tests was getting sent off in 1994.

| My point was not about Offiah's status as a player, that is not in doubt he was a world class athlete. The fact that he is the one recognizable rl player that lives in London is why Sky use him. My point is that someone with such a condescending attitude to the club, who has lined his pockets from the club in the past, is hardly fit to represent our best young players as their agent.

| Offiah was a world class winger, only the ignorant that are influenced by his recent actions would dispute that. One of the best players I have seen playing Rugby League.

Possibly - it was a master-stroke. We never looked back that day.

| Never met the man so won't comment on his personality....but on TV he comes across as an idiot. With regard to his antics as a players agent.......as I have said before, he just happpens to be in the right place at the right time....London's conveyer belt will start spitting out better players and he would seem to be the guy best placed to benefit. Shame really.....the club (David Hughes) should be getting some return on investment....LMS went for nothing which is a very worrying precedent IMO.

Good morning.
It's not a precedent. Contract terminates, player is free agent. Happens all the time. Club can protect itself by tie-ing players to long term contracts. Commercial decision.

Kia ora
It is a precedent when our tallisman cockney product, the first one capped for England from our accademy is allowed to go to a top 2 team for 2 tenths of bu99er all. LMS was an opportunity to promote cockney players.....playing a northern game. He is both talented and good in front of a camera......but apparently, as you have said, we couldn't afford him/or didn't want him.
Still say it's a precedent........even if only for Londons SL club

I agree it is unfortunate but that does not make it a precedent. Leaving the English lesson aside, maybe despite the club's best efforts LMS just chose to take the opportunity to play for a team who will challenge for trophies. Good luck to him.

| If we are unable to pay the wages we will become a selling club like Wakey, it is basic economics. The question is will our conveyor belt become a milk cow or will we get some fodder too? I hope there are enough mixed metaphors there for the connoisseurs!
